I'd prefer Richards at right back out of our current options personally.

I suspect that Mr Hodgson would select the tried and trusted, and experienced Tomkins over Richards.
Tomkins played in over 80 PL games when Mr Hodgson was at the helm.

Presumably Mr Hodgson will have looked at videos of Mr Richards playing and will have seen that he is highly capable whilst Mr Tomkins has slowed down in the last couple of years

Roy is quicker than Tomkins these days. He can play nowhere other than central defence and even then he should 4th choice of 4.

Am I being remarkably stupid in asking who this "Roy" is, who's quicker than Tomkins?

Just pick someone out of the crowd for right back and also for up front. Heck, one of the midfield slots too. We'll have to pretend they're registered so they'll all have to wear Schlupp masks.

Am I being remarkably stupid in theorising that the previous post was a humorous remark suggesting our 75 year old manager was quicker than one of our players? 'Twas my interpretation anyway.

I get the impression from Tomkins he really is waiting for the bell to ring on his career and will bow out very soon. Problem is, he's still being paid and on the books so will pick up his money and I don't think he's enough of a tw@t to make it obvious he is no longer enthused about playing or give up completely. Earned an undeserved point vs BHA which secures his respect from me in any instance for this season.

I've long held respect for Tomkins, I thought him underrated and was surprised we nabbed him so easily from WHU but I suppose they had bigger aspirations (rightly or wrongly). His time has almost completely passed however and I fully agree that his pace is near non-existent now.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

That's been a massive problem for the whole season! It's a joke that he gets slammed for that goal considering there were two unmarked players completely free on the end of that cross!! Richards for me has been outstanding and such a waste of talent not to fit him in somewhere.

i don't think he has got slammed for that game, but any defender who chooses to back off rather than close down his man should be questioned. It was poor defending.

He has played only a few games at CB so surely the jury is still out. Great v Man U both home and away but IMHO i thought he was slightly at fault for Rashford's goal - he had him but tracked back too far to allow the cross to reach him unmarked.

Distribution look pretty average and tries to keep it simple - might expose him at RB, although Clyne looked so bad v Man City maybe anyone is worth a go.

Hodgson, you know, the manager! I was being facetious however having given it more thought it could be true.
