Over-hyped free agent Jefferson Lerma is not good enough for West Ham and Crystal Palace are welcome to him.

Reading the criticism of the Hammers and Moyes for not swooping to beat the Eagles to the Colombian, anyone would think he was a modern day Claude Makelele.

In fact over-hyped free agent Lerma is not good enough for West Ham and Crystal Palace are welcome to him.

With due respect to Palace and Bournemouth, playing for West Ham – especially following in the footsteps of Rice – is a major step up.

Its a bit harsh, but its true.

We've just let go of 2 expensive and old CM's. And picked up a younger and better version for free.

Not the best player in the world but good business.

Ideally he'd be a great squad player. But that's getting ideas above our station. We've jsut nicked a peers player of the season

Typical arrogance from them.

I still remember listening to one of their fanzine writers being interviewed before the PLay-Off Final in Cardiff.

He got to the stadium at 3am because he couldn't sleep for thinking about how West Ham were on their way back to the Premier League after they had beaten Palace.

They were not a happy bunch after the game !

I remember all the West Ham stretch limo's going down the motor way thinking they had won the game.

We seem to have moved quite quickly for Lerma, no doubt keen to get a Prem player on a Bosman.

Lerma cost Bournemouth £25m 5 years a go and supposedly is one of their best paid players on over £50k a week.

As he is now a bosman he will be wanting a big pay increase, something Bournemouth are unable/unwilling to offer.

Hopefully Palace are not breaking their wage structure to bring him in. Excluding Wilf i believe OE is the top earner on c£90k a week with Andersen on high 70's the next in line.

Hopefully the wages we are offering are in that ball park and not overly excessive.

If the 4 year contract is true i can see that in 4 years he will be 32 and probably won't be a regular, yet will sit there on massive wages, just like Luka has done for the last 2 seasons.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Wow. Could have sworn they finished three places below us.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...
