I have been thoroughly enjoying the 'Roy train' and am therefore optimistic in speculating how he will do with better resource. The reality may well be our treading water once again (at best)... however once again wishing for more/better. One big hesitation I have with Roy is whether his staying will reflect a lesser inclination to invest in squad from the board as well given he represents security far more than ambition Hypothetical and perhaps delusion proposition: Roy stays - there is some further investment in team - things go well - Roy retires having overseen an impressive and entertaining 8th-11/12th place finish - bit more investment summer '24 with a new manager to take us onward and upwards upon Roy's well earned retirement. I'll have a lie down a book an appointment with a shrink!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

People have a bad perception of Roy, for the way we HAD to play in certain games in his last tenure,

What I do not need:- New probably foreign coach with no knowledge of Palace with new methods and staff. Disjointed pre-season preparations tours I just want the players fit and ready to go. Any important departure to be covered by recruitment. It ain't broke with Roy, so don't fix it!

RH told Palace in the March that he would not be staying. Giving Palace ample time to find a replacement. Maybe after a break he decided he was not ready for retirement and so it proved, he went to Watford. Edited by Spiderman (18 May 2023 4.07pm)

I'll have a lie down a book an appointment with a shrink! Roy staying then Paddy taking over...ideal solution in my book. Hopefully the Palace DNA will stay in place and hopefully we'll be a very exciting team and pretty successful. I think the Palace Academy has been a very sensible high quality investment. My dream (some may say psychosis) is to be South London's Arsenal

That could very well be my own cynicism and Palace-related anxiety talking however and I am in no way suggesting I am correct in thinking that.
