A recent Freedom of Information request revealed that 1 in 7 prisoners in Ireland are immigrants. I suspect the same, perhaps more, in the UK. I haven't looked it up.

How many times must I reiterate that where I live has no bearing on what I believe. I can think anywhere and have lived in many places both in the UK and overseas before retiring here, as many do. I left south London 60 years ago. For work originally but also because housing was cheaper elsewhere. I would not want to live there again, but not because of ethnic diversity. I don’t like frenetic cities and prefer the tranquility of rural life. Who are my neighbours matters not at all, so long as they are peaceful and respectful. It very much does matter. Hypocrisy matters. The person who says one thing but behaves in the opposite fashion gets to hear about it. When you push your opinion on immigration I will occasionally repeat your hypocrisy. You are not required to like it but they say the truth hurts don't they. Oh I see, you like the people living around you to be filtered by behaviour do you? Errrr, who doesn't genius. You live in Wisbech, which unless it has changed dramatically since I was there, is a pretty sleepy place, surrounded by Fens and big skies. It had it’s fair share of immigrant labour, mostly from Eastern Europe working in the food factories and farms and whilst this did give rise to some local issues on occasions, my own experience of the incomers was always positive. With Conservative voters the immigration issue is the second most important issue. Rather blowing out the water what was suggested earlier.

If you don't accept the ONS figures what are your figures? I don't have any. I read what the ONS say about the figures and how difficult it is to reach conclusions and interpret what they mean. I completely understand that immigrants of working age want to work, so tend to end up where the work is. Cornwall is not going to be at the top of their list! It's also a long way to travel to an interview. Much of the work here is seasonal, which doesn't attract those wanting long term employment. Those that do come are not here long enough to be counted. Our health care provision has also seen an increased use of international staff since Brexit.
