Who do you all think the greatest band ever is?

out of all the bands i have heard i would have to say, 'QUEEN', I don't really listen to them but if i had to chose one it would deffinatly be them.

What about the rest of you?

edit [ having being told meat loaf is infact a person ( i thought it was a band ) i thought id change it to Queen ]

Red hot chilli peppers, not many bands can say that they have been around for nearly 20 years? Specially seeing as music has changed so much during that time as well!

RUSH

The best bass player (Geddy Lee), guitarist (Lee Lifeson) and drummer (Neil Peart) all in one band.

Going to see them at Wembley Arena Wednesday night. YEAH!!!

Using purely your criteria, I'll say U2, who have done the same yet achieved more success.

The Beatles. Nobody else comes close in terms of popularity, influence AND critical acclaim. People will still know their songs in a hundred years time, which can't be said of many other bands.

The Who

Nobody came near them for the combination of live energy, great songs and excellent musicianship.

Hearsay!

(Joke)

I'm split between Queen and the Beatles!

Although Pink Floyd and Zepplin cannot be left out.

Seeing as no-one has mentioned them yet, I will have to vote for Radiohead. A brilliant band, Tom Yorke is a genuis. Their songs are very experimental, and although not to everyone's taste, IMO one of the best bands ever.
