It was my dream to play for Palace and to make my debut. I've always played for the club so if I'm playing here, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I was at that game and remember the trouble well. Was standing in the Holmesdale and remember it was a pretty blinding atmosphere - then when we scored the fouth goal brum's good spirits evaporated and all hell broke loose. From what I recall I think they thought they were going to take over the ground pretty easily and didn't expect our lads in the Arthur giving it back to them!. It was a really sureal thing to witness with all the fancy dress.

I also remember it kicking off bigtime with Millwall in the Arthur back in those days!!

I actually got a picture in Today (first colour newspaper for anyone under 35)standing on top of that crap fencing that was in front of the Arthur as a motley collection of carrots, pirates and Freddie Star Hitlers decided they wanted to tear us all new a-holes..I do think they were surprised they got so much resistance to be honest...Thinking back it was quite a surreal day

Once the dust settled I do remember a carrot being stretchered off by the St Johns but I am not sure if thats the early onset of senile dementia and actually happened..

Scary day...

I was standing on the Arthur Waite Terracing near the front when the trouble kicked off.
I can remember Palace fans at the front repelling sporadic attempts by Brum fans to get in amongst us after a pitch invasion.
The main reason for the trouble in my opinion was the fact that thousands of drunk Brum fans had been drinking as far away as Sydenham and after eventually getting to the ground late they found that the turnstiles had been closed and so opted to climb into the ground and ended up in with the Palace fans and then it all kicked off.
On the way to the match I had wondered why I had seen loads of Birmingham fans drinking in pubs in Sydenham and at Crystal Palace Parade, miles from Selhurst Park, someone had obviously got their bearings wrong and thought that Palace played at Crystal Palace.
I remember beating Brum 6-0 at home and 6-0 away in the same season but any trouble was never as bad as the day that the Fancy Dress Party went wrong at Selhurst.
