I think it is 8 confirmed dead at present. Unfortunately expect it to get a lot higher.

With regards to people saying that this is something that could've been avoided, I'm sure there have been many attempts at this in the past. These however, have been foiled before explosions have occurred and the information hasn't been relayed to the press for fear of scaring the London public unnecessarily.

The emergency services and Scotland Yard don't just act when these things occur. They are most likely preventing them all the time. They are doing work to make sure they don't culminate in explosions. The only way this country still functions as normal is that we don't know about it.

Unfortunately this one has managed to happen, but as someone has said, it can be very difficult to prevent some random nutter making their own bomb and walking onto a packed bus.

since when have we 'cozied up' to extremists ?

Whern they've washed the blood off the streets, start blaming people. Until then shut the f*** up.

Come and say that to my face, you little turd.

Grow up. Why is this excitable child allowed to be a mod, when he exhibits such childish behaviour at a time like this.

Childish, eh? You don't know the meaning of the word. If your only contribution to this is to come out with cr*p like that, then you are a pathetic individual. Stick to the debate like everyone else.

As it turns out, not a random nutter; more like a planned and orchestrated campaign.

Yes, spoke to Sue this morning as soon as I heard, she's OK but is facing a long walk home from Regents' Park to Plumstead!

What is she going to do? Hopefully some main-line trains will be working.

20 People Confirmed Dead.

One guy at our work walked past seconds after the explosion. He came into work and then just broke down. Luckily though we have N.I.C.E in our builiding and they had a couple of doctors that work for them who helped him. George from finance was also on the first train that had an explosion. He got out sely bhut has cuts on his face. This is a sad day for Britain, nut a terrorist attack had to happen sooner or later. Thios couln't of been avoided. No warnings..nothing..

Whereas me I'll be walking from Holborn to Norwood!

I assume so. She'd have said if anyone had been affected there.

Spot on - as soon as suicide bombings became the "weapon of choice" for religious fanatics the job of the police & security services became a no win situation. The IRA guys never used this tactic and hence were easier to stop, arrest and prosecute. Similarly, nutters using biological or chemical weapons can be tracked and stopped.

But - if your sole aim is to either wrap youself in an explosive vest or fill your car with semtex and send yourself to paradise (in your twisted mind) there is nothing you can do.

Being a target is mostly the price we pay for being a secular nation. Yes, some of the flak comes our way because we are linked with Bush and in Iraq, but looking closely at most of these fanatics their aim is for a global Islamic state and they believe that their actions will send a message to all jihadists to rise up and overthrow the state and religion.

IF your going to have a arguement then do it via PM .
