Lived in Balham until I was 5 and actually supported Man Utd then as my older cousins did, due to our Irish heritage. Moved to Sydenham then and Ironicaly supported Chelsea, as all my mates at school did. Moved to Norbury when I was 11 and met a mate who followed Palace. Used to go into Croydon with him every Saturday but if Palace were at home he would always go. I went with him one Saturday, throught the turnstiles in the corner of the Holmesdale and stand on top of the muddy hill that was.I enjoyed it so much that, as I'd only ever been to about three Chelsea games, I changed my alliegance and followed my local team ever since, that was 1971.

I must be mad.

By some horrible misfortune, my god father took me to the games and got me hooked, which has lead to a distinct lack of fingernails, a dodgy heart, super-high blood pressure and serious premature aging... then again it is Palace so i suppose so how it is worth!

first game was in the '71-'72 season at home to Everton (I think) - a cousin of mine was good mates with Mel Blyth who was our centre half in the early 70's and he got free tickets for me and my Dad in the middle of the AW !! Howevr, the Selhurst bug bit me good and proper, and I started going regularly, moving across to stand in the Holmesdale for the next 12 years.

Stopped going on a regular basis in the mid 80's, but now back there as often as I can with my 12 year old daughter and my 16 year old nephew, who is a season ticket holder.

why do I support Palace.....because they are MY team - simple as that.

Supporting the mighty CPFC since September 1971

For me the usual things, Dad a life long supporter (all in Division 3 South and Division 4), we all supported them as kids. Couldn't hear the ground from my house but if I walked up the road and got a clear line of site you could hear the roar.
Also my dad played cricket with Johnny Byrne and Steve Kember so how could I miss.

started when i was 10 (im 15 in 11 days) because i realised that supperting a team that wins every week and charges £30 per seat was not right for me! also those free tickets they give out on training courses helped

My family is divided between Palace and Chelsea...and a little Arsenal. My dad took me to Palace and I supported Palace...even went to Chelsea years ago when they beat Man Utd 5.0 and that came no where near to changing my mind!

started following palace when we lost 9-0 to liverpool and then just started looking out for there result and after the fa cup semi-final there could only ever be one team. .also brain washed my 4 year old little boy to follow the palace and every day ask when i'm going to take him to selhurst.

My mum supports West Ham and my Dad supports Crystal Palce. My older brother (my only sibbling)followed my mum and supported West Ham so I evened out the rivalery by following my dad and being a CPFC fan. (The play-off final almost started a war in my house). I started supporting them 3 years ago.
