There is no such thing as an "EU work permit". Working permits are issued by each individual country and are only valid in the country of issue. An Italian work permit isn't valid for work in the UK. A Shengen visa is only for tourist travel and does not allow the holder to work in any Schengen country.

Did you read my post, if so you missed the word "transferable" and as he's played on a permanent basis in the EU since 2009, that's 7 years he has the right of residence in the EU, under EU law after 7 years residence you have the right to permanant residence.

And what are you on about "Schengen Countries" the UK is and has never been part of Schengen, and a Shengen visa is for visitors not for working visitors so is not applicable.

As a non EU citizen he has to have a residence permit and a work permit, and under EU law both of those are baring criminal or other adverse circumstances are transferable, it's the same as Souaré last year and Speroni 12 years ago, and Bolasie who may have been born in France but he has a DR Congo passport and Adebayor who has a Togo passport.

The only time a club has a problem is if the paperwork is not correctly filled in.
