One of the best posts I have read on our current position. Nail on head. What I will say regarding SP is this....instead of looking at some of his/the boards poorer decisions look at all the ones they have got right. There is not many clubs with so many genuine fans on the board and as we know Chairman rarely get every call right. We all have to dig in and support even though at present it is difficult. We just need a win, however scrappy and against any opposition to start the confidence kick.

Bring back Brolin

In his post match interview, SA sounded like a man getting his excuses in early " got to Sunderland in Nov,had a chance to work with players and buy in Jan,didnt get that here " etc. So clearly,he'll take zero responsibility for relegation and all the credit if/when we escape!PR at its best

I don’t think SA can really say he hasn’t had as much time as he had at Sunderland to assess the squad, as he apparently had plenty of time to write detailed player assessments for the Americans. Presumably this impressed them enough for him to be appointed by the Board.
However, like lots of others on here, I believe the thing he desperately needs is a leader on the pitch.
It sounds just about believable that Pardew got rid of Jedinak because he saw him as a rival influence in the dressing room, but Dann and Delaney are still here. Unless SA can sign a John Terry type, surely he has to get alongside D and D, and get them to motivate the others. I remember seeing Delaney on his debut running about and yelling and organising his fellow defenders, and suddenly we had a defence, but what’s happened ? Even he looks as demoralised as the rest . This is where management is at it’s most important isn’t it ?… The manager, no matter how sophisticated, has to have the ability when a team is failing to lift a poorly performing squad of reasonably skilled players. They have to be encouraged to believe in themselves and play for their club, or if not they have to be dropped, no matter who they are. At the very least they have to rediscover their enthusiasm and fight, it’s football for pity’s sake, a game played for fun. Presumably SA does know how to do this, his time at Sunderland suggests he has done it before, which is possibly why he got the England job after the appalling Euros. The problem is now these old managers have grown a bit comfortable on being paid well if they fail, “Oh dear, we lost again…oh dear we’re going down… never mind another million or so will be on it’s way….”
This is the way it is I know, and won’t change in time to help Palace. I will be there again on Saturday forcing myself to sing ‘Glad all over” as they come out of the tunnel, just hope the players and Manager will feel the same.

Have you actually read what anyone else has written in this thread as it has already been mentioned twice on this page alone that Steve Parish has debunked the story about Allardyce giving the Americans a dossier as being untrue.

I'm glad we've got Allardyce in and after recently reading his autobiography I've a few points to raise which concern me.

1. Not sure if he still does this but apparently he bans any use of video games on the coaches and hotels as he finds them addictive and can find it effects players performances if say a player loses and keeps losing they will get obsessed with trying to win and can stretch into games and affect concentration. Zaha is known for playing video games a lot ect and we know he can be childish at times?

2. His wife "Lynne" reads fans message boards...

3. Back in the days at Bolton, West Ham and Sunderland he seemed to really love the game. After his health scare and family problem's he's taken a step back, which we see now with him slumped in his chair.
