they seem at the moment to be touching over everything to try to improve the match day experience and make it look slightly more better than before.

Building a new fanzone in the car park seems the most important issue at the moment rather than fixing the leaking roofs etc as the arthur wait leaks to (no surprise)

Why go to the trouble of building this fanzone if they are looking at building over the main stand

Were loads of empty seats why not move? Not sure how you get wet in the upper though, you sure ther wasnt a cameraman above you taking a piss.

Row 4 with just the walkway and gallery in front of you (kids have unrestricted view so don't want to move) it was fairly full in Q near the front - water came straight in through the roof - nowhere near as bad as the deluge that came off onto the lower Holmesdale though - I suppose not what SP wants to hear as a 'match day experience'. Unfortunately it matched what we watched on the pitch...

what i dont get is, all these fancy floodlights which got put up, why not kill 3 birds with one stone and fix the leaks while they were up there doing it?

Lights are due to TV regs, not the club.

It is remarkable that the big clubs can lay waste to huge areas and get their new stadiums built while we struggle to get permission for one new stand.

Example?

It took Brighton years to get the Amex approved. Liverpool gave up on Stanley Park and Tottenham and Chelsea haven't exactly had smooth progress either.

We're also trying to rebuild a stand extremely close to houses on a very small footprint in London. It's not like we're building on an industrial estate or anything like that.

Oh, and one end of the ground is owned by Sainsburys.

And the Emirates was built on a council tip. I have not heard we've been turned down for anything yet; it's that we never actually seem to get any further than talking about it.

Since Noades sold the club we haven't ever been in a position to do anything though.

Now with the US investment, and the TV money from the new deal, we have a chance to move forward which, according to the interview with Steve Parish, is now beginning to happen.

Pointless discussing this really but since you ask.
Spurs,Chelsea,Arsenal,Man U,Liverpool,Middlesbro, Southampton,Reading,Wolves,Charlton,Millwall,Wigan,Sunderland. I'm sure there are more. All clubs that have had new grounds or significant rebuilds where as we haven't had a significant improvement for over 20 years.

I'm not saying we had the finance or that it is easy but I am saying plenty of other clubs have rebuilt and I'm sure they had plenty of hurdles to jump as well.

I didn't get that impression from the comment "the sharp-eyed may spot a planning application". That sounds to me like some more minor works.
