While scanning the net for reaction to this latest triumph over the Arsenic, I came across a Twitter conspiracy theory that claims the result was due to the pitch not being watered. My level of Schadenfreude towards the over-privileged is growing exponentially.

Seem to remember thinking the exact opposite, as our players were slipping and sliding throughout the game.

I actually agree that the pitch didn't look as watered before the game as most PL games. The ball was not skidding off the surface like it often does and long balls bounced up. This did suit us, but isn't the reason for the result. I think most pitches are too skiddy when watching normally. The pitch was old school...

Is there any rule about how wet the pitch has to be? For me it's no different from teams narrowing the playing surface to reduce threat from teams with wingers etc.

There are probably limits though. In particular the use of land mines is probably a grey area.

After a quick google I'd make an educated guess that there is no rule currently although Ferguson called for it to be regulated in 2011

Couldn't find any articles re land mines so assume those are fine too.

Either way, if you want a conspiracy theory, none of it is as interesting as the amazing moving penalty spot of St Marys.

Seldom does a single league result lead to so much merriment and laughter. Is Arsene Pardew in disguise?

There was some complete f*ckwit in the Daily Mail comments section who actually believed that Palace had 'no' right' to beat Arsenal.

Most Chelsea fans seemed to take it on the chin but gooners are a class apart for entitled arrogance.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

You may well be right, but have you looked at NSC recently?

Arse fans let off two smoke bombs which put our players off. If these hadn't going off, we would have scored another 3. At least.

I'm surprised they haven't complained about the noise our fans were making as Arsenal are used to playing at the library called the Emirates.
