In our first eleven if Sakho signed. Then the next main priority has to be a right back. Although Joel Ward been an ever present, he's hardly had any competition since be at the club. Now I think many fans think that an upgrade is needed for the new season.

The options

Prem:- Sagna , Zabaleta, Jenkinson, trippier

Championship- Cyrus Christie , Dominic irofa , tommy smith (Huddersfield)

Europe - serge aurier, diekmieier , Daniel opare

A few unrealistic like aurier and trippier but who would you like to see replace ward.

Wardy is one who has improved enormously under Sam's tightening up of the defence and as I assume that funds are reasonably tight I wouldn't bother with RB until other more important positions are looked at.

I know that Sam was interested in Greedy Guts Jenkinson in January but that was before he saw what Ward could do when surrounded by a sound defence

That's is true, he has shown improvement but one injury to him. Who we left with. Kelly seems to prefer the centre. I suppose you could play Tomkins at right back , dann and Sakho (if signed of course).

It would be great to find a right footed Schlup, who could cover ward and wilf, two for the price of one

The ones in bold are not coming to Palace.

Best options: Yedlin (Newcastle), van der Wiel (Fenerbahce), Mitchell Weiser (Hertha), Bruno Peres (Roma), Diogo Figueiras (Olympiakos), Ricardo Perreira (Nice), Zappacosta (Torino)

All under 10 million, many under 5 million

Ward needs replacing as first choice. He is easily the weakest player in our fully fit 11 and has been found out on so many occasions over the last few years. He is a great guy and has done a lot for Palace but he just isn't good enough and has never been pushed by any competition.

I recall expressing reservations about Ward on HOL some time ago and brickbats were hurled in my direction.

I actually had the same thing. I said after the first 6 months in the PL we needed to upgrade and got slammed because of people's rose tinted specs. Since then he has consistently underperformed across numerous managers in different styles. He overcommits and dives in to tackles and is lacking in positional sense. He is extremely fit and committed and is absolutely good enough for a spot in the squad. But if we are serious about improving we need to address RB.

He looks pretty, says the right things and portrays a wholesome image, but ultimately isn't good enough.
Was found out by kids today...who'll only get quicker as he gets slower.
Every team targets him, he doesn't have the pace to recover, which is a modern day requirement nowadays.

Ward would be an excellent acquisition for a championship side. We need a maurading right back, that can pass. Can't think of any realistic players though!

I questioned his burst of pace a long while back on HOL and I was pilloried ! Maybe I might, just might know a thing or two about players !!!!
