Couldn't the government set up a scheme whereby jehadies could blow themselves up in some designated area where there are no people about. A certificate could be issued assuring them of entry to paradise and access to the virgins etc. That way we decriminalise the activity and respect their Islamic beliefs. I'm sure it is the sort of idea that would appeal to Jeremy - I wonder if there is time to get it in the manifesto?

I suspect this to be true. The Abrahamic religions seem to be very afraid of sex, sexual expression and sexual inadequacy (and of basically any kind of enjoyment that does come from being a bit of a dick to other people).

The naysayers on this thread know very little about the culture of Islam in Britain from what I can tell.

Like everything else you have good and bad examples. The feedback that many mosques are socially very conservative is hardly surprising as that's the actual religion itself....if people could actually be bothered to read the Qu'ran.

Not a problem if you can reform the religion as happened with the Jews and Christians...reform it and reduce the obvious harm that is in these books. But when the Qu'ran says it has the unalterable and perfect words of God.... then the reality is that reform is seen as an attack.....To westernise is seen as to dilute.

Women are expected to be 'modest'...I mean Jamie actually talked of 'feminism' in Islam...I kid you not...A faith that says husbands can hit their wifes just as long as they don't mark them up...Just as long as he gives her two warnings to stop showing ill-conduct and disloyalty....Some feminism.

Muslims are expected to defend their faith....hence the ridiculous reactions to any and every slight real or imagined. It's a minority within a minority who go onto support an attack or attack themselves but a majority who have issues with western culture....Even though they came here or are first/second generation.

The evidence is for everyone to see....except some would rather bury their heads in the sand.

I mean on our front page at the moment you have a picture of the lovely Crystals....westernised women....You are never going to get an Islamic version of that....Not until radical efforts are made to reform......And the so called 'progressives' in this country can't even bring themselves to back refomers.

In lots of ways it's a disgrace.
