Yes. I reckon you're right about Tomkins. Not so sure about Kelly. Sakho lifted the performances of everyone around him, including Hennessey and the midfielders, for both technical and more ephemeral reasons IMHO. Tomkins certainly did get better once Sam and Sam got to grips with the team and he performed well when Sakho wasn't there, particularly against Liverpool away until that thug took him out. Kelly OTOH was exposed against Citeh in particular and I think he does need a confidence-boosting, organised and calming presence nearby, although that wouldn't have to come from Sakho or indeed from another central defender; those qualities should be available from a stronger keeper than Hennessey, for instance. When he played alongside Sakho he was fine. Reminder that Pardew failed to address these non-technical skills and needs entirely, to the extent of dispensing with Jedinak. Probably a lot of the problems Kelly has still go back to being undermined by him; I he seemed pretty robust and independent before he was made to play out of position for ages.

5m Loan with an option to buy for 10m. PLay him as a Right back, which will give us cover as CB too. I always liked him tbh.

To be fair, Willo gets slated on here unfairly but there is no way he's not seen that article. Nothing wrong with sharing it though. For what it's worth I think Chambers could be decent but I still long for Sakho.
