Have to say i was impressed with the passing from defence satrting to take shape... it seems to be sinking in.. Benteke still looks isolated up front for long periods though... but as i say progressing nicely...

I don't like the formation. Luka should be in midfield, I would love to see Loftus-cheek playing just off Benteke and Townsend put further forward because he got caught out a fair bit today but did look great going forward.

Thought we looked good in the first half, our patterns of play really appear to start taking shape. My pick was Scott Dann, who played like the Scott Dann of 18 months ago rather than the constantly worried looking fella we saw under Pards. Was great to see him playing confidently, he looks at home at the heart of a back 3. We lost our way a bit when the youngsters came on, same story as last year... Looks like we have a good first team but not much depth especially going forward. My worry is that we'll need quite the turnaround of players in order to get a full squad suited to playing the way FDB wants to play.

How was Lokilo? From watching him before, he's got potential but I thought it would take him a bit of time before he got into the first team. Edited by Shifty97 (29 Jul 2017 10.11pm)

Looked very effective to me. Whether he can actually make an impact in the league is a different matter but who knows.
