I just cant see the point we are never going to be a top 6 team but be comfortable mid table if we play to our strengths, changing to a style which is completely foreign to our players opens up the possibility of a disastrous relegation season, and at best no higher than mid table, pointless.

I suppose you've got to give everything and everyone a chance but the fact that Saturday was a horror show and we really looked clueless is scary. Teams are going to run all over us and I fear we'll see the same and worse against Liverpool.
Klopp could have them pressing us into pure panic mode, we beat them last year with a system that works for Palace, I'd love us to play the Ajax way but we clearly haven't got the quality of players to do it.

Aren't Ajax a bit overrated ? Great in a more technical environment of a weak Dutch First Division but not sure that they would finish higher than
mid-table in the English Premier League which is far more physically demanding. Let's get back to the system that we are comfortable with, build up safety points and then gradually adapt to the new system and introduce young players. I am really concerned that SP and FdB have got things the wrong way round. I hope that I am wrong.

Aren't the Dutch a bit overrated, more like. Ranked 36 and just look at some of those countries above them:

I understood that one of the components of making a 343 work was pressing when we are out of possession - didn't see much evidence of that against Huddersfield.

Surely we will revert to a 433 against the scousers - they will make the Huddersfield press look pedestrian.

Mane on one flank, Salah on the other with pace to burn and Sturridge in between them - 343 could rewrite history with the largest premier league loss in history, even without Lallana and Coutinho (thank goodness).

433 with the quickest fullbacks we have, TFM and Schlupp with Dann and Tompkins in the middle of defence please.

it went belly up a month or so ago with de berk's appointment. he's a one trick tactic pony. i knew this would happen. never in a million years can we play this system...unless someone gives us 300 mill for buying the right players.
someone please give de berk his laptop back, so he can carry on playing fantasy football manager.

Better defensively yesterday, just concerned about the lack of chances we're creating. Who do we think really struggling with the formation so far.

Doing well - RLC , Tomkins, TFM .

Struggling- Townsend, Ward , Luka, puncheon

What your thoughts

RLC is a fantastic player who will give us a plan B by driving our play through the centre of the pitch.

Tomkins should definately keep his place in the side - Riedewald will be a good purchase in time but needs to be eased into the side.

TFM should stay in the side and is performing well - Ward should be benched and we need to sign a RWB.

Luka will form part of a fantastic midfield with RLC and Cabaye (as long as we don't sell him) - Cabaye is the missing link in our midfield at the moment and will create plenty with a free role in midfield.

Punch needs to move to the bench.

Townsend should remain in the front three with Tekkers and Wilf (when fit) / Schlupp to replace Wilf during his absence.

PVA plays Left back in a 4-3-3 formation or the team switching where necessary to 3-5-2 with Townsend dropping deeper.

DeBoer has shown with the Liverpool formation that he can adapt to the premier league and is not 'set in his ways' and will promote youth and develop our sides ball playing abilities.

I now have faith that we can start picking up points and who knows we may even sign a couple before the deadline.

Time will tell of course as to whether this was a very astute appointment or a mistake.

I have to say I did approach the season with a degree of trepidation but I am willing to give FDB time to implement his ideas and improve our fortunes and not cast judgement after such a short time. The 'Transfer window' is still open so there might well be additions and new players could well make the difference like they did for Allardyce.Lets not get too 'Down in the mouth' after a couple of games.

I think FDB will be a success.not seen the highlights yet but by the sounds of it things are starting to come together.

New manager,new system,will take time.
Allardyce didn't hit the ground running either.

Frank will get it right.
