Because he says, and I agree with him, that having 28 police officers injured going about their jobs is "unacceptable". Like it is when they get attacked at chucking out time every weekend or during July in Northern Ireland drum-beating time. So if a massive street party gets banned then, logically, with his thinking so should the others. It would be a point worth putting to him.

You think a guy representing LONDON police officers should also represent the police of Somerset and Northern Ireland?
His job is to represent LONDON Police.
I think you've lost sight of this guys remit in your attempt at whataboutery.

That doesn't surprise me,the great unwashed that are always clashing with the old bill...just as bad in my book.

always a Norwood boy, where ever I live.

Is this because the police were proactive and did raids before the carnival?

(the police were criticised for the raids.... let that sink in... they were criticised for arresting them lovable gang members)

Well said sir, With out these raids, it would have been a lot worse.

Not at all. Any decision of banning would have to go through the chain of command all the way to the Home Secretary which would make it pre-requisite to include all similar events which cause problems of police injuries to be fair to all officers not just London ones.

You quite clearly asked why the leader of London Police Federation hasn't asked events in Somerset and Northern Ireland to be banned. You've now changed your argument that he should be able to ask for NHC to be banned, and as a consequence to his request that the Home Secretary might look at other events and apply ban to them.

You've changed your statement because your first statement was nonsensical.

Do you know another event where there are over one hundred arrests for weapons and violence on the first day and pre dawn raids to stop drug dealers attending?

I have always understood that an essential element of policing is to know where believed naughty people gather - to visit those places, and prevent (by holding people securely) criminal actions and associated public fear.

Why would a the leader of the federation of London Police want Friday and Saturday nights cancelled up and down this country? What has that got to do with a carnival held in London where his officers are assaulted?

Whataboutery?

You're not making sense... if we are to discuss this, we need ground rules we all adhere to...

* No whataboutery
* No agendas
* Don't be a moron.
