At the moment each club gets the same amount for the overseas TV payment but 'Under pressure from the six richest clubs, the chairman has proposed ending the equal sharing of international broadcasting income;.

'Scudamore presented his plan - which would see 35% of the revenue divided according to league position - to the other 14 clubs on Wednesday, but it has been met with resistance.'

The 14 clubs who aren't dicks should hold a vote on increasing it from a majority of 14, to having to have the full agreement of all 20 clubs, in order to change the rules.

That'd be hysterical.

When will they realise that by making their opposition poorer they make the games less attractive.
What real football fan wants to see Man City steam-roller teams 5-0 every week?

Thinking about it, I suppose the Harlem globetrotters do ok out of it, so maybe there is a market.

Top 6 are just looking for an excuse to form a breakaway european league. The German manager was moaning in the papers today about lack of competition in thd German league. Same for teams like psg, real Madrid, Barcelona, etc.
It'll happen eventually, which will see the collapse of the premiership tv money for the rest. Wether thid would be good or bad, I have mixed feelings.

Look what happened in Italy...
Juve gets 90m bottom teams 15m.
Now they're starting to realize the damage they've done, but they cannot go back, because levelling everyone at 40m would mean no more competitive teams in Europe.
That's why I follow English football, Italian's is dead, and self inflicted...

Henry Winter is normally good value and he was very critical on 5 live yesterday evening - said he was surprised smart guys like Levy were being naive.

And yet German football fans moan that RB Leipzig shouldn't be challenging for titles, that they are a fake, commercial, club. Fans of big traditional teams refused to go to their own teams away games when Leipzig got promoted. So do they want a competitive league or a closed shop?

I can't ever see a breakaway European league happening.

I found it amusing that after the "vote" in Catalonia that those clubs were musing which league they would join after independence. France, Spain or England etc. Er, none of them - you'd still be larger than Belgium and they have their own leagues.

That would be the ultimate revenge - the Spanish FA barring independent Catalan teams from playing in La Liga.

From an English point of view it's probably down to the person that runs football in this country - Rupert Murdoch

Listening to a Guardian Podcast they feel there were eight votes for this not six the other two being West Ham and Leicester although they don't seem 100% with this.

The discussion starts @ 52.38

How many people watch Real Madrid, Barca and Atletico every week?

People like watching players they know play well.

As thrilling as a 3-3 between Bournemouth and Swansea, or Levante and Celta Vigo, might be it's still going to draw a smaller audience than a game containing Aguero, Hazard, Messi, Ronaldo etc.

I don't agree with the plan, but I don't agree with the 'no one wants to watch it' line. People love watching Messi roasting a crap team.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.
