Probably the wrong time to start a proper thread with so many dimensions.

* Spanish separatist movements.
* The mirror on the UK.
* Gibraltar.
* Spanish outposts in Morocco.

San Juan's a dump I'd recommend Bayamon although Ponce might suit you better.
The place is virtually bankrupt that's why over 400,000 Puerto Ricans live in The Bronx

I'm not sure what Catalonia has to do with immigration. I'm all for threads bouncing around different topics but we discuss this area so much already.

I don't really know much about this Spanish internal split.....though I think I remember reading that Catalonia is slightly better economically than the rest of Spain....So, adding in the different culture you can see why...I suppose...this kind of split happens.

I'm not sure trying to repress the actual vote itself is a very wise policy by the government....surely that's only going to escalate emotions against them.

I'm a democrat so ultimately I have to support things like this.....I think you can have decentralization like this....as long as you have firm alliances in other areas....As I think would be the case here.

However, if this is going to economically hurt the rest of Spain you can see the potential for conflict right there.

It should be noted that the EU...unsurprisingly are fully supportive of Spain's actions here.
