Is it? I am not so sure. The vast majority of Spain would want the region to remain part of the country if there were a countrywide referendum on the issue. Surely a true democratic vote would be for all Spanish citizens to have a say?

Do you have the same view for Scotland voting on independence?

Scotland is already officially a worldwide recognised country and was voting on whether to remain in a union. Catalonia is not a country. End of. Not comparable.

No, Scotland is not a worldwide recognised country. No country in the world recognises Scotland as a country.

So if the region called Scotland wasn't a country and was apart of England....You would be alright with it not being allowed to have a vote then to become Scotland?

What do you think would be the correct way to proceed democratically if that were the case?

Self determination. Allow people to have their say, yes or no.

The vote may be illegal according to the Spanish constitution so any result will be purely a indication of people wishes and in no way binding or having any validity. Therefore why not let them go ahead and just ignore the outcome. Using force to try to prevent the vote seems totally pointless and just rings of Spain of 40 + years ago. Really unbelievable!
