Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Croydon town centre seems to have suffered quite a lot from online shopping and the development of the trading estates on Purley Way . Can’t think of anything I would need that would require a visit there. The powers that be really need to get a move on with the proposed Westfield development .
On the memory lane theme , I put forward the menswear shop going towards East Croydon station , had the old fashioned yellow plastic sun protection in the windows but in the early eighties it was the only place in the area that sold Lacoste polo t shirts ,also anyone remember Ye Olde Boot Shop in Broad Green , Dr Marten specialist.
Let’s hope with all the proposed redevelopment and investment Croydon gains some soul

In my opinion Croydon was a superb place for shopping with Allders-Grants and Kennards (Debenhams to youngsters) and entertainment.

Davis theatre, a variety venue and so many cinemas it was a wonderful place.

Progress was the undoing of Croydon !!!!!.

If that was the pub in the middle of the Whitgift Centre that was my Tuesday night watering hole if there was a match on.

I used to work next door in Rothschild House and used to drink there prior to disappearing off to Selhurst Park

Saturday lunchtimes there in the mid 80's. Then off to Selhurst. Then home, then back out on the usual pub crawl starting at The Ship all the way down to The Refuge opp Stag and Hounds. Then if no party to go to/gatecrash jump on a bus to The Lord Napier jazz pub in T Heath as they were the only ones in town with a late licence.
