Argyle fan in peace here seeking your favourite funny and witty palace player nicknames

I know you had a game where the whole team suddenly has nicknames on their tracksuits under our mutual friend Malcom Allison which ended badly...

I've found a fair few ( Doris doe Swindlehurst???) which took me back as my first ever away game was the 3-3 game in 74/5...I was a teen and bventured up on a shopping coach excursion and found my own way down to Selhurst park and back to meet the coach.

Nowadays I am a Kent resident and one of my daughters goes to Brit so she heads to Selhurst every day!

Shame you sold Bolasie...we had no idea what we had when we signed him!!

Thanks in advance for any good ones....

There's no competition here really.

One of the worst strikers we've ever seen at Palace was Patrick Bamford. He strutted about, preened himself in the area, was determined not to ruin his latest hairdo and never scored. He was a Chelsea loanee. He went to Norwich and then Boro where after about three years the ball bounced off his arse into the net, and he ran around like the golden goose who'd laid an especially large egg, despite having already lost the game and been relegated.

I refer to him as "Bumfluff".

Selling Bolasie turned out to be quite a good idea because he soon afterwards f***ed his ACL and has been out ever since. 18 months and counting and Everton are picking up the tab.

I remember Doris was his nickname with the fans. I think his nickname among the team was Fish. I had a tour of the club and I saw a blackboard with team tactics and Fish was on the board. Unless I am confusing this another player.

Yes I have heard "Doris" being referred to as "Fish".

Nigel Martyn was 'Blazey' and John Jackson 'Stonewall'.
John Sewell was 'Shovel'.

Bert Head signed so many Scots that at the Christmas do one year amongst the joke presents being given out was a return ticket to Glasgow for Mr Head !

To be fair a few were scandinavians.

Not famous admittedly but I once played football in a 6 aside with 4 lads who were signed up members of a certain religious persuasion that involved knocking doors and spreading the word.

They wanted to call the team the “All Stars”. The other lad in the team signed us up to the league.

I was the goalkeeper for the “Jehovah Rovers”
