Because he is injured, still not fit and he has been out of action for 13 months.

That's what injured Premier League who have been out of action do- go to low Championship clubs to get playing time and get back into shape

OK. Well at least I know the type of assumptions that your hypothetical "coherent transfer" strategy is based on.

James Wilson from Man United. After a long knee injury he was loaned to Sheffield United.
Clubs are looking at Danny Ings after a year long injury.

Chuba Akpom was injured since September 2016 to February 2017 and went on loan at Brighton, who was fighting for promotion.

Hull City paid 3.5 million for Nouha Dicko after a serious injury which kept him from playing for over a year.

Fiorentina took Micah Richards on loan after just 2 matches in the PL in the 2013/14 campaign due to injuries.

These are all player that have come back from Injury....... Wickham is still injured and just starting training. Not even a Sunday league team would take him on with withstanding the insurance for said loan!!!

Also Fiorentina are a Serie A side,
currently above Milan and Bologna in 9th position,
not a low division club.

Long posts do not necessary make them coherent.

You take yourself way too serious mate. I do not consider myself an expert at all but do watch a lot of football. Have no idea where on earth one single person would get the time from, even when nothing else on their hands, to make judgements like you do.

just a few conspicuous quotes:

Riedewald was a suggestion, but with Dann's long injury selling a center back is out of the questionShooting hole
If his few performances at CB have not made you aware that he is no CB for the Premier League and possibly never will be then my esteem of your knowledge of the game is on a downward spiral already.

Get Nils Petersen from Freiburg (incredibly underrated and playing for a team so small that it couldn't ask for more than 7 million-
The arrogance and certain know it all makes me cringe, So a relatively small German club, possibly pushing above their weight in the Bundesliga can not ask more then 7 million? Utter, total complete nonsense or do you think they have no idea about TV revenue in the PL in Germany?

He hardly played for Eintracht this year
Can't get a game for Frankfurt, but of course they have dumb people in charge who can not stand in the shadow of your superior football knowledge and you are certain this beast will walk in our first team like that.

Well, I can get Ola John from Benfica
Can you? You surely are aware how easy going and soft negotiating the Portugese clubs are on the market. They won't drive a bargain will they? Surely not with a PL club with their pockets loaded with TV moneys. Did not bother to check, but if true his contact expiring in 2019 it could well mean the bigger part of your allowance is already used. A year and a half in modern football is half of eternity.

Sorry to sound rather negative, but you do sound just like what you do not want to be.

And I am genuinely interested how much time a week you spent watching football on television and how you can manage to have such strong opinions. You certainly need to see a player in a full game 4, 5, 6 times before being able to rate them. Then some barely play, yet you come out with raving reviews. Based on what?
On the other site, it is a game of opinions but you barely seem to allow others theirs.

Dicko played 30 times for Wolves after returning from injury before leaving for Hull ....

Akpom has been a perennial loanee during his entire career at Arsenal so his going on loan after injury can hardly be attributed to a rehabilitation plan

Fiorentina - last time I looked - play in Italy.....

Your entire 'coherent transfer policy' rests upon the 'evidence' of James Wilson going to Sheffield United (not currently in the lower half of the Championship, btw)

Please don't try to shoehorn some 'evidence' into your faltering argument as a short search on Google is pretty simple for anyone who cares to bother..........

How does that not make my case stronger?

If a club fighting for promotion takes a player from the PL who has just began training, why wouldn't a lower club want Connor Wickham, who is a more accomplished and known player than James Wilson?

How did James Wilson not just come back from injuray days ago??

How had Chuba Akpom not had just come back from injury when he went on loan?

If Fiorentina being such a big club was willing to do that, why wouldn't low Championship clubs do it?

You'll all see when Wickham will go on loan in February

If you don't consider yourself an expert, why can't you accept the possibility that I might actually be one? Not the certainty, but just the possibility.
Is it that hard to believe that someone could know more than you?
You say yourself that you don't know this player or that player, yet you accuse me of incoherence.

There are already 6 fit center backs in the team. Riedewald is ok as 4th choice in the PL, playing if something happens to Tomkins, Sakho, TFM or Kelly. I'm not saying he was good at center back, but you already have so many in the team, with Scott Dann also coming back in June. Why get another center back on a years long contract? Riedewald will do as a backup for 6 months.

Why does any small club sell for low sums? I didn't say Nils Petersen would come for no money or for free. Prices are just different in Germany and much cheaper than in England

He played a lot for Leverkusen and was a regular for the Germany U21 national football team. I've seen him play a lot of matches. It's not that he hardly plays, we're talking about a very young player here. How many times has Fosu Mensah played at United? Granted, da Costa is a little older, but the fact that he's not playing for Frankfurt shouldn't be the main argument. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. The fact that he is available and at around 1 million should make this a worthy risk.

Benfica might try to get 1 or 2 million. That's all they can hope for now. They might just let him go cause they're paying him big salaries and don't use him. An agreement can be reached. We're talking about a Premier League club here, 1 or 2 million is not much in the PL.

Don’t let yourself get so wound up Matteo. Whilst I doubt that your proposed transfer strategy is likely, realistic or likely to result in Palace getting into the top 8, I am not going to get into the slagging off.

I disagree with you on Benteke and Wickham, amongst other things. I also don’t think that signing the number of players that you say in January would be sensible. However, I am happy to defer to your expertise.
