Benteke also waits in the centre of goal when the assister is only 8-10 yards from him. There is either a lack of understanding or practice from certain angles and distances or situations that it never works, one or the other at different times gets it wrong, or we're relying on a couple of these to get the understanding going.

Actually at Liverpool most of those perfect floor passes to Benteke, and there were lots of them, from the right wing with him side on to goal ended up going miles over so I think he's a bit limited in this area.

i wouldn't disagree with that at all...but then it makes you wonder why we're not better at delivering the balls in the air as a result...it's clearly his strongest asset!

I'm very optimistic about this signing. He's young, improving all the time, and hungry for success. He can certainly head the ball and for a big guy he's got some pace about him.

He's going to be an unknown quantity in the premiership, and when you look at the likes of Slimani,Ayew,Bony etc not really cutting the mustard and costing fortune's.

We could have something here, a real bull of a forward. Surely got to offer more than Benteke?

I'm surprised you didn't add Benteke to this list - cost a fortune (on a fortune) and not cutting the mustard

Look at some point you have to take a bit of a punt on players.

He is young, strong, fit and eager to play for the club.

I am sure scouts have done their homework...

Fingers crossed he plays on Sunday.

You look at the crosses we put in; whether from open play or dead ball situations, we're shyte!

The number of times we hit the first man is ridiculous. As for your point Rudi; about movement, if a striker knows where the ball will be played he'll get there...but again you look at how many times Beneteke is in the box or attacking the area hoping a ball will come in only for it to be over the bar, goes out for a throw in on the otherside or hits the first man.

The goal we got vs Wet Spam the other night was the first decent delivery into him from the wing since Leicester!

Charlie Nicholas (a decent CF in his day) mentioned on Sky recently that playing with Wilf would be a nightmare as you never know when he's going to deliver a cross. So you make the run and the ball doesn't come etc

Bolaise worked on quicker deliveries under Pardew but I haven't seen this as much from Wilf. Benteke's movement is poor but maybe CN has a good point. Hopefully Roy has noticed this and is working on this in training

My biggest concern with ANY striker we get is the service we provide them....its FCUKING WOEFUL!

So unless we improve the quality of ball in the final third; we could have Lionel Messi up front...he's gonna be feeding off of scraps!

I'm hoping that the kid on loan from Benfica can address this issue though.

I remember when we had Ian Wright. The service to him always seemed great. when he left the service really dipped. in reality, good movement helps massively to make midfielders deliver good service. you could be wrong blaming those servicing big Ben.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Hmm, but could it be that every time Wilf looks up there is no-one in the box at all or one player surrounded by 4 defenders. Hell of a ball needed then.

Hopefully, if they both play, thus guy can get on thd end of Benteke's flick ons. Nobody else seems capable of doing it.

This - and what Rainforest said earlier - is how I see it ie we need different options, for example to get around the 'three defenders on (and kicking) Wilf' problem

Well, he playes for the team leading the Danish Super League, but in spite of this, he is not in the top 3 of scorers in the league, and has managed 7 goals less than the leading scorer.

Take that starting point and move him to a much stronger league and you will see a guy struggling very hard to get on the scoresheet.

What is re-assuring is Dougies record of spotting potential. I really hope this guys has a huge, huge potential, because he needs to improve dramatically to be worth just half the transfer fee.

I'd never heard of Jonathan Parr until he joined us and he turned out to be pretty good.

Cenk Tosun was on the same goals as Adebayor & 8 behind Gomis when Everton signed him & he cost £27m from a league nowhere near EPL standards.

It'll be good to have someone running he channels & giving defences something to think about other than stopping crosses/Benteke heading them.

Hmmm, all of those apart from the solo goal on 3 mins he was completely unchallenged. Hopefully when he is it doesn't faze him. He has the physical presence to hopefully do that. They'll see in training with a bit of Sakho or Delaney nudging and wrestling you get in prem matches because you rarely get the space in that clip unless you're winning with 5 mins left.

I thought similar but then he does seem to attack the space &/or buy himself a yard or two. This compilation seems to give a better overview of how he plays & I'm both surprised & pleased with what I saw:

In order for a goal to come from a cross then header there are so many factors that have to take place - beating the first man, beating the defender marking Benteke, being at a height that allows Benteke to direct it towards goal. My point is Benteke drifts back post and rely's far too much on the cross being inch perfect rather than making that extra movement that allows for wilf or andros to pick him out easier.

Hopefully with Sorloth and his movement it will give not just our wingers but our midfielders more options when attacking as now their first thought doesn't have to be - 'put it out wide'.
