Early 1980's (I was 12)
We used to have an ice-cream van park in the playground at lunch. No criminal checks on the driver, and as well as selling ice-creams, he used to sell individual B&H, Rothmans and Marlboro to the kids.

I still find it hard to believe that in my lifetime people could still be beaten with sticks and trainers for minor offences. That was never right even in the 60's and 70's and you know that I'm no sissy liberal.

Physics teach who had a mean arm with a chalkboard eraser (the wooden kind), or when you forgot your PE kit and were forced to wear a provided girls outfit(skirt, blouse) and change in front of the whole class, no that never happened to me, and didnt cost me thousands in visits to a shrink to get past it...

I was in senior school in the 60s/70s when the cane, strap and ruler were used to mete out punishment to errant pupils.I also witnessed reprobates hauled out of the classroom by their ears.

I had one of those wooden blackboard rubbers thrown at me by a teacher because he was sick of telling me not to swing back on my chair. It missed my head by about a foot, the dent in the wall it hit was there years till the day I left!!
When I told my dad expecting him to march in the school and knock the teacher out, he just said “I expect you were sodding about and deserved it because you can be an annoying little s***!!”

Lunch time, baker's buy a uncut loaf hollow it out, chippy fill with chips (after you had broken it in half for your mate).
Finish it then into the shop and buy 2 single no6 ...lunch sorted.

And then get caught smoking the fags, and get said cane/slipper.

That would have been about 72/73.

I had the slipper once for kicking the flaps that covered the holes the tennis nets went in in the playground!! I thought this was a bit harsh, but I suppose it was the 85th time I’d been told not to do it!!

went to ashburton(now the f***ing oasis academy) early 70s.
was wacked on arse by PE teacher with plimsole for forgetting jock strap.
dragged out of seat by history teacher by that bit of hair by ear ole & same teacher took me out to a barren bit between buidings to infer he could beat me up if he chose as no witnesses.
I saw a deputy head grab a lad by his throat in the teachers corridor, another deputy punch a lad in the guts so that he dropped to his knees and spewed and just general throwing chalk board erasers at people.
spiteful w***ers a lot of 'em.
oh yes, forgot, some of the younger teachers were f***ing the 4th & 5th year girls.
It was the 70's....

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

The crazy old bat of a headmistress at my junior school used to hit you around the head with books, canes or bits of wood just for being 'naughty' in class. I remember getting my head cut open once.
