It omits to mention that the operating profit includes a £4m award against our former manager which is effectively 40% of the club's net profit for the year.

I wonder whether that was the sticking point between directors and auditors as the latter may not have wanted to include it in profits if it hadn't been paid

Surely if the amount was included in previous years accounts, its right that it should appear in these accounts, as it corrects the previous loss.

There are no legends in football, but there are good memories...

Question. We received a sum of money as a investment which never materialised. I saw one post which said we had returned it and another that said we still had it. Can anyone clarify?

Although you are correct your point is completely irrelevant as I wasn't commenting on the accuracy of the accounts but the accuracy of someone else's analysis of the year's profits as it completely failed to mention that almost 40% of the club's profits came from clawing back a bonus paid in previous years plus a recovery of legal costs associated with that

I believe that football league clubs really struggled when the Irish TV Setanta when bust? So yes you are correct it is never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket. I guess that is why the Premier League clubs are always looking to diversify.

We hadn't returned it at 30th June 2017 and I doubt whether it was subsequently returned otherwise there would have been a note to that effect in the accounts

There is a note in there saying that the club retained the 'deposit' & infers that it is the end of the matter.

Thats basicly what happened to Scottish football when Setanta went down, I think 6 of the 12 at the time filed for bankruptcy since then. Scotish football has adapted since then but it probably set the league back a decade. Even now, Gary Lineker gets more in TV money than the whole Scottish Premiership. Everyone has preducted our bubble will burst for the last 10 years but the amounts just keep growing. It might stop growing but I dont think it will ever collapse...

Perhaps the new amazon deal may be the beggining of the tide changing. What fans need to realise is the games worthless without them, and I’d suspect with the constant price surges, fans collectively coming together and saying enough is enough could cause the broadcasters huge problems.

I already unsubscribed from BT because their broadband was s***, and the only reason I was with them was to get a discount on the CL. The premium they charge to hear Darren Fletcher and Steve Mcmanamon on a big European night is absurd. Spend about a 10er a month on IPTV now and get Martin Tyler/Guy Mowbray. Mental that the US are getting better coverage than us at times.

Is IPTV available on just normal smart tv?

A lot of the football I watch is Palace away games on a paid for £42 a year quality picture on a widescreen laptop. Not too good via my Firestick but that may be my bt homehub and distance from the Firestick. I watch more games but not constantly so full tv subscriptions are not worth the money to me.
