Well it sounds like this was an avoidable accident that the technology failed and that the safety driver was not doing their job properly. A tragedy for the family of the deceased. However as I have pointed out previously you can fix the technology so that these specific circumstances do not happen again. You cannot fix human beings from not paying attention whilst driving. The technology is still some way off from being safe but it will get their one day and when it is the norm it will save lives.
And how bloody boring will life be by then?
