From the grind your gears thread, I thought I'd spark the debate on here

I think he's a force for good, calls out politicians lies, social injustices and helps to destroy myths peddled by right wing press

Brilliant journalist

I recognise that he's intelligent but he's a hypocritical 'champagne socialist'.

He advocates for policies that would wreck the economy and meritocracy and would make reduce wealth yet lives in a wealthy area and gets to enjoy all the benefit of wealth.

he does openly admit that, not sure where the hypocrisy is unless you believe people born into privilege and have done well for themselves cannot be socialists. Does it always have to be 'My dad was a bus driver' ala Sadiq Khan ?

This 100%, listened to him for many years, but about a year ago enough was enough.
Switched to BBC Radio London, Robert Elms show is fantastic.

You're asking me what it's all about, and I can't tell you because I don't know what's going on myself.

Can't stand him,so as soon as Nick Ferrari finishes I switch over to 5 Live.My main issue with him is that he always asks the "Have you stopped beating your Wife" kind of questions which are impossible to answer
and which are angled to support his way of thinking.

Yes, I do believe that. Hence the moniker 'champagne socialist'.

A socialist is meant to believe in equality. A champagne socialist believes in 'equality for thee but not for me'.

He should be giving up the earnings of wealth above the average to causes he believes in......much like those cucked males in the BBC who gave up their higher pay to their female co-workers.

You're coming from an angle of envy and lazy stereotyping, suggesting that anyone above average earnings or have done well for themselves should catagorised as middle class and could never have empathy for ordinary working class people

Just seems like a blinkered class divide view of society

I'm doing rather well for myself nowadays. Far better than when I was doing sixty hour weeks at the teaching coal-front.

So the lazy stereotyping is yours.

If you could correctly comprehend my attitude, you would understand that I don't hold contempt for the middle class.....in fact I view them as vital for the maintaining of a meritocratic society (as long as the people in those positions are there by merit and not cronyism).

What I do hold contempt for are....as I said, 'champagne socialists'. Middle class people who advocate for socialist policies while enjoying the benefits of a lifestyle that employs all the realities of advantage.

If you believe in equality. Then live a life that is equal to the average. Otherwise you are a hypocrite who believes in selective equality. If you are lucky enough to earn more than the average, then give the excess away to causes you believe in.

'Equality for thee, but not for me.'
