Get that Stirling but I'm not advocating not paying
What I'm sure would work better is a ceiling on the tax an individual pays in one year.
If someone (the mega earners I might stress) was for example told that once they had contributed a set amount then that's it for the year.
Everything else is theirs. What better way to inspire a contribution than to keep banging them.
Of course they will use clever accounting to pay nish if that's the case.
It does stink of envy when the minions like us keep giving it to the rich.
You may know this but what % is the tax take from wages and what is it from business and services and sales.
That gives an idea of what figures would be earnt with fixed tax compared to them swerving paying and not contributing.

I'm sure we would probably agree on a lot of this.

I'm certainly not against the rich. Indeed they are an essential sign of a healthy society. I just think that both state and individual are intertwined and both have an interest in ensuring the success of the other.

The state needs to ensure an environment exists to enable individuals to succeed on their merits and the individual needs to ensure that society keeps doing that.....Those arseh0les who pull the ladder up feck it all up.

The strong need to protect the weak but not be taken for granted.

The weak should not demonise the strong but celebrate them.

When you speak of people wanting 'equality' I think you sometimes go a bit too far in thinking that some people want everyone to have exactly the same and any differentiation from the median is a outrage. Obviously I don't speak for others, but to me 'equality' means equal opportunity in life, not everyone having the same. Whether people choose to take that opportunity is down to them.

This ''speaks'' for me.

Look around the world at the state of countries and their cities where money earnt from society isn't reinvested back into it.

Look at the Victorian societies and the slums.

Even after Trump's massive tax reductions the top rate of income tax is 35 percent. The recognition that sh1t needs paying should be self evident.

Institutions and infrastructure needs to be paid for. Pensioners and children provision needs paying for. Security, the army and Police need paying for....I could go on of course.

Anyone who ever made it here....benefited from this. They wouldn't have what they have without the society that enabled them.

That'll be the 'austerity' that the vast majority have had forced upon them (for how long now?).

Which country's fiscal model would you like to follow?

If there isn't one, which system?

A fair one. Nothing more and nothing less.

For example, if you happen to take the bloody piss with other peoples money for your own personal gain but your plan fails dismally..........then YOU pay your own friggin' dues.

But we have austerity.

To be fair he is very staunch in his anti brexit stance but he is right that so much pro brexit feeling is built on a foundation of bigotry that has been stirred up by public figures, mainly around immigration. I suppose he is unrelenting whenever a brexiteer phones in but I just think the researchers put through idiots just so he can tear them to shreds, like the beeb, whenever there's an immigration debate they bring in some right wing rent-a-bigot who makes a fool of him(her)self. (Why do you think Katie Hopkins got airtime ?)

Correct

People have wealth through either privelidge, circumstance, or aptitude but one common denominator is interdependence, i.e. they need economies, markets and manpower to generate and scale their wealth. Entrepreneurship is successful if there is enough consumer demand and wealth, coming from people who have bought from taxable income. a premiership footballer's income is also based on the amount of consumer demand from either TV. sponsor or fanbase. Again from taxable income. In all cases it's a case of intelligent or priveldged people manipulating the system or people. That's why they should always pay a higher pro rata tax not related to their own personal tax take

I won't agree with the loaded usage of the term privilege.
