Really all center politics in UK. Tories are hardly distinguishable from Labour once in power. Labour may threaten to renationalised: they won't. Tories may threaten benefit cuts and deportations of illegal immigrants: they won't get round to it. You could list countless things similarly. Hardly Mussolini v Lenin etc.
As for the Blair government: what was that? Diluted left wing or diluted right wing who knows.
Despite being in awe of his wonderful five minute 147 maximum break - I think O'Sullivan should stay out of politics.

Its interesting, just looked into it and he implied that its 'any organisation that starts right wing will eventually become left wing'. It doesnt say anything about institutions (although institutions its much easier to defend as true) but the guy was a writer for Margaret Thatcher so I think there is ultra heavy bias there.

I actually agree with his reasoning though, in an attempt to appeal to more people, you have to dilute your principals, thqt part I agree with but I think that applies to both sides...

I dont know, 'your principles will be lost if you include everyone' is bordering on a barnham statement to be honest...

Spot on, just look at Labour under Blair

Your second sentence....I think you're being a little literal there....it's just name given to a idea about institutions/organisations....it's not official.

Yes I was joshing with you.

Sounds like a load of old cobblers to me. When I hire someone I have zero regard for their politics, just their fit and qualities for the job.

Perhaps left wing people are just generally nicer and don't want to hang around with a load of gammons.

Was going to make this point. At which point in the interview process do you ask someone what their political allegiances are?

I have spent many, many turgid hours interviewing and I can honestly report that it never, ever came up. I was also on the branch committee of a trades union for 25 years and those who wished to stand for vacant positions weren't asked about political allegiance either; the only bar to candidacy was being a member of a different trades union.

A trade union.

If an organisation is already left wing it stays the same or gets more left wing.

If the lefties of Hol see themselves as even handed then that's great. I think most moderates are.

However, the 'law' is there because we can see it's happened.

Exactly. I have to interview people fairly regularly for where I work. I can't exactly recall my training but I'm pretty sure even asking or alluding to that would be a big no no.

Quite so. It's on the no no list with religious beliefs, sexual orientation and marital status.

The Tories were the largest party in the election. They have governed far more in the last fifty years than Labour have.

Trump's approval ratings are in the forties in the States.

In truth there's a lot of people who aren't that political and vote on the economy. So for organisations to be politically centred to the left is evidence that this 'law' has some use.

I certainly saw it in teaching....look at media and entertainment....look at the universities....I could go on.

Does this law include central left and right?

I wasn’t meant to quote you btw.
