Benteke and Connor Wickham have salaries of 200k a week combined. With RLC, Cabaye, Puncheon, Souare, Mutch, TFM, Delaney, Rakip, there has to be at least a 500k a week economy for next year's players. You can get 9 players on 50k a week with that money.

Puncheon hasn’t left but I agree with your thinking, to a point. It’s just that once that money has been removed from the expenses the idea isn’t to add the same amounts again but much less, so we’re not right up near the top of the table in expenditure, which is because of a lack of scouting, strategy, not spending when we originally needed to and ended up spending more fire fighting because of those reasons.

Benteke and Wickham stand out.

You understand Ward’s frustration a bit more when you see Ward on £35k and Schlupp on £56k.

No one is disputing that £120k a week for 3 goals last season and £60k a week to be in the physio room is massively hurting us. However, to get them off the wage bill when one can't score and one can't stay fit is near on impossible. Who is going to shell out £25m and £120k a week for a player who only scored 3 goals? If we were signing him on the back of that we'd all be going livid.

Our best bet with both is to try and get them fit and scoring, then if we do that we can moan that we're selling them because they've been great or we can lambaste them some more for being a waste of money.

My main point was the cost of the player at this point is almost irrelevant, it's the wages of an incoming player that has to be considered the most.

Also, I think some of the original fees quoted were a bit like Everton fans saying Zaha is worth £35mil and us saying he's worth £70.

I don't think Wickham is on anywhere near £100k a week and if he is I can't see anyone buying him and paying those wages.

Puncheon, Souare & Mutch are still at the club. (we're paying most of Mutch's wages from what I've heard)
We will get 2 more loan players in which will probably be on equal loan fee and wages as both RLC and TFM. We also don't know how much the parent clubs contributed to RLC and TFM's loan wages.

The only players we've really shifted are (and I'm guessing the wages here really):
Cabaye £80k pw?
Delaney £20k?
Lee £25k?
Sako £60k?
Cavalieri £10k?
Rakip £10k?
RLC £40k?
TFM £30k?
Ward reduction? £5-10k?

We've added Guiata on a free so assume he's on decent wages, maybe £60k.

So in essence we've possibly reduced the wage bill by £215k plus have another £135k to add, so £340k.

We want to tie our better players to new contracts, if Wilf get's a new contract at £35k a week more all of a sudden we aren't left with much money to get in players.

This is all guess work on my part but a quick google shows that your first suggestion is on 60K euros a week at Monaco. Plus not only is it £50k a week wages but the bonus payments etc count too. i.e. unused substitute fee, goal bonus, win bonus....

I'm not knocking your list, I am just saying people expect us to make a ridiculous amount of signings without realising we are completely hamstrung by FFP and we don't have the revenue coming in outside of TV money to help pay for what we want.

We have spent decent sums the last few windows, we have some hit and miss signings, some on big wages who don't reflect their ability and that's our problem.

Disclaimer - I'm really guessing at a lot of these figures and this is based on my limited knowledge of FFP

Yes it’s becomi clearer that there’ll be probably 2 medium priced signings and possibly 1 or 2 really cheap prospects. The idea will be to not pay new wages equalling all of the wages we’ve got off the wage bill but some. How much we don’t know but no more than half I’d think.

Please name which players and I'll tell you why I gave those fees. Of course, they're at the minimum end, what I think is the minimum sum for which they'd be allowed to leave. As I said in the original post, that's why I gave more names. If one can't be gotten for that mobey, go to the next one.

Mate I'm really not trying to start any kind of argument with you, just my opinion is that a fair few of those players the values are very low. For example I'd be surprised if Eder Balanta was 1-2mil.

Some of them as well have already moved on, for example Passlack - who I thought was going to be the next big thing - is on loan at Norwich, Andone has gone Brighton etc.

Yeah, well, I meant these would have been my ideal transfer targets at the beginning of the transfer period. But I didn't have time to write them.

But seeing where the transfer period was heading, I decided to make time to write this.

Rakip was only here on loan, so I assume he is now back at Benfica.

I've no idea about any of the recommended players, or their prices...you did, though, explain how you came up with your valuations and johnb asked about one...

I could have asked about several but we'd just be going round in circles and I haven't got the time to go through a list of that many. I just felt the prices were, optimistic.

My point was essentially it's not the price of the player that matters to us at the moment, it's the wages. We currently can't sustain the growth in wages we've had over the last few years and in line with FFP you can only raise them by 7m p.a.

Yes we have got rid of some players but we still don't have excessive amounts to play with unless we just break the rules and accept a fine, but then where does it end?

Until Palace can get their non TV money up, we're kind of at our limit of wages before we start making a loss every year. The ideal scenario, I imagine, is to try and survive as best we can until the new stand is bought at which point we will get more income and therefore, can spend more.
