His release clause was and is known publicly since June. We were not linked at all with Rondon, which is frankly ridiculous. He is well suited to play our system and has all the aggression and willingness to break a sweat that CB doesn't have.

But then again: Evans (3 mil), Ki (free), Wilshere (free), and Fredericks (free). We're absolutely pants at knowing the market.

All we know is throw bags of money at Liverpool. I think Steve Parish's idea of scouting is pulling up the Liverpool wiki page and sorting the players by 'minutes played last season'. We then go on and bid 20-30 for their least used player.

i would be annoyed if we spend £16m on rondon aswell, we dont need anymore big strikers

Only way I see this as worth the risk is if we loan him for a season with a option to buy.

No way we spank money we haven’t got on another potential sick note.

Loan for Ings and Danny Drinkwater and buy the experienced DM for £10m.

Job done till next summer.

Idealy yes however this is Parish so dont get your hopes up of getting 3 in. 1 probably 2 if we are lucky 3 only if we sell Townsend or Wilf.

2 loans and one purchase should mean we don't have to sell anyone.

Like many others I look at 20m for Ings and feel blimey thats too much. But, we have to think of the way transfer fes are rising exponentially, and are continuing to do so. This has a knock on effect on the whole market. 200 mill fee for Neymar has had a big effect and even players like Bumfluff Bamford being talked about with a 10 mill move to Leeds today. Think as fans we are beginning to realize the how ludicrous the transfer fees are racing away like a runaway express train

So we now have Benteke, Wickham and Sorloth.
Assuming they all stay fit why do we want a 4th CF?
Unless Benteke is going then there is no point and as I posted earlier £20m is absurd even in this market

Because Benteke forgot how to score, Wickham has been out for 18 months and Sorloth is not good enough.

The only way this would seem like a good deal is if it was a year's loan with a option to buy at the end. We can't afford to blow any significant amount of money on a forward who has barely played for three years. When you look at the fact Liverpool bought him in the summer of 2015 and since then he has scored only 4 goals in 25 appearances it makes you look at that supposed £20m price tag and ask "WTF?"

Even in these days of inflated prices anything more than £8-10m with perhaps addons for appearances would seem steep right now.

Ings isn’t a CF, have you ever seen him play?

He's played more matches as centre forward though than as second striker or on the wing combined. Most his goals came from a central position. He isn't extremely tall, but I'd classify him as a centre forward.

Just not a very good one in this moment, after his injury. He played 9 matches for the Liverpool U21s last year and scored just 1 goal. 700 minutes that was. Against the mighty Sunderland, Derby, Leicester and Swansea U21s. Strikers who scored more than 20 goals per season at U21 level are not worth more than 10 million, let alone 20. Cause in order to be worth that, you'd have to score every 50 minutes at that level.

Agree and which is why we want £70m for Wilf.

I still think we would be mad to spend £20 million on Ings. But I don't think that he would be a bad player to have in our squad.

I certainly don't think you can compare stats for a returning from injury Danny Ings and say that he is no good.

I have mellowed over the weekend on this. I think he would give us something different from Benteke, Sorloth and Wickham.

If we can afford it then I don't have a problem with it. However, if we were thinking of selling Andros or Wilf to fund the purchase of Ings then we need our heads read.
