He’s not particularly well known for being a deeper playmaker who is concentrated on pressing or tackling. His strengths are in a freerer position where he is able to create. He doesn’t lack speed either.

I assume if de Souza is also on the way. He’ll fill the spot next to Luka with Meyer on the left. It’s a very versatile system where everyone has their own role.

There are definitely similarities with Cabaye. But I think that’s more because Cabaye was an all rounder of a midfielder. And he only really adopted that deeper role with us. Was always more of a box to box type, was known for his intensity too. Different to Meyer in that sense, who’s more of the Ozil/David Silva mould.

Can’t help but feel with Drinkwaters name in the mix. Meyer and Drinkwater would turn this lacklustre window into something brilliant. A new striker too and it would be perfection.
