Reidewald's not getting a look ahead of Luka, Macca, Kouyaté, Schlupp. And Punch and Williams are still around. Also there's still a chance one of the other rumoured mids get signed, which would definitely push Reidewald off the bench and into the U23.

I think that point may well be made to him that he can choose between playing regularly for a Championship club or playing for the Development Squad as he won't be in the main squad of 25

Against Reading, Reidewald twice made dumb challenges just outside the box that gave Reading free kicks in great positions. Bright, who was commenting, mentioned that those kind of tackles would be costly in the Prem and just shouldn't happen. Other than that he was solid, but I'm sure Roy took note. They were the kind of tackle that Punch kept doing that got him pushed to the bench.

I'm not a huge Ayew fan, but he was still in the top 40 in goals scored and would be great cover. Better Ayew than 10 minutes of Reidewald for a few games a season.

Definite not, Jairo is a top player played for his country and such potential, only 22.

Anyway Palace can buy Ayew it doesn't depend on anyone leaving, or loan.

Don't dispose of good players, why?

Because we only have 2 players able to play wide if needed and a handful of midfielders and a limited amount of money and wriggle room. You know this.

I like the idea of Jaïro more than the player. A classy Dutch kid from the Ajax academy that can play in a number of positions.

In reality he hasn’t ever really shown that he has enough to make the grade and doesn’t seem to excel in any area in particular. I’d love for him to step up, but truth be told, I can’t see it happening.

Ayew is a proven performer at this level who gives us cover in a number of positions we are short on. It’s a shame this deal collapsed.

No I don't think so.

But we cannot know, we are not party to SP, RH how things are done at Palace.

From past experience Jedi Murray Mariappa etc. I would shackle SP to a chair to prevent anyone leaving !!

Just bl00dy stubborn in short. We have a limited budget and Riedewald bought for £8 mil is down the pecking order with priorities elsewhere. You keep telling yourself we can afford anything if you like. Or would you prefer us struggle out wide at times with more midfielders scratching their bollox?

And why the big gap between your post and quote thing. A big press on the return key or something?

It all comes down to whether Roy rates Jairo and thinks he'll play him. It's seems he doesn't, and it seems like he won't.

There are always trade-offs (well unless you're a top 6 club), and focus has to be fielding the best starting 11 and the best bench. Ayew should make the bench, Jairo probably won't barring an injury run.

Even if we get no one else in, our starting 11:
Zaha / Tekkers / Townsend
Macca / Luka /Kouyaté
PVA / Sakho / Tomkins / AWB
Guaita

Bench: Hennessy / Dann / Kelly / Ward/ Schlupp/ Sorloth / Wickham /

Squad: Speroni / Kaikai / Punch / Williams / Pape / Jairo (+U23 hopefuls like Lokilo/Kirby/Lumenka)

If Meyer arrives, then one of the top mids gets knocked to the bench and a bencher to the squad.

I just don't see Jairo getting much playing time with this squad, if Roy doesn't rate him. Ayew could push Wickham or Sorloth off the bench.

You must know something we don't.

Looks like my 48 hours are nearly up , did we sign any midfielders or is there still a gaping hole?

Looks like Cabaye is replaced ok, but RLC, Hodgson would like us to do anything possible to get him.

Thinking of the games at the end of last season clearly he wants that quality.

So yes and no, just have to see.

Meyer has played more games as an attacking midfielder than as a cm/dm so he could just as likely play where Loftus cheek was last season , we also have schluup ,Wilf and mcCarthur who can play there , looking very unlikely he will be back at the moment as they want a 10 million loan fee.
