IF (and it's all speculation at this point) the HF have dispersed themselves all round the lower Holmesdale, with the intention to stand and sing as they did in Blocks A & B, I can foresee some serious consequences for the club.

To date, at the stadium licencing renewal meetings, they have been able to say that whilst there is ILLEGAL standing in Blocks A & B (predominately), it is controlled and monitored and therefore poses little risk to the general public in the rest of the stand. On this basis, they have been able to get a renewal of the stadium licence without problems.

.

Standing isn't illegal.

That doesn't mean that there wont be problems if people stand in front of people who don't want to stand. The front of block E is often a cause of problems with people standing at the front and sitting behind them.

If there is now to be groups of people standing all over the lower tier, it will be far. far harder for the club to proved that it is a controlled environment and poses no more risk than having them all in one place.

Regardless of personal feelings, the law decrees that Premiership stadia will be all- seater, and if someone at the Council decides that this is unacceptable, it will not matter who sits or stands where, as the whole lower stand will be shut down.........

It is not actually illegal to stand. The law only states that the football club has to provide seats for each spectator, not that they sit on them!
However, I can see certain supporters who normally sit being a bit peed off if suddenly this season people are standing up in front of them.

Whilst it may not be illegal to stand it is against ground regulations & the authorities can take all sorts of action against clubs persistently breaching the rule - including closure of the stand.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

How many blocks stand? From my "seat" in C I can see B and D (I can't see all of D though as I'm only little!).

I sounds like A, B, C, D and half of E? Do the other blocks further on all sit? Or do they too have running battles between fans like block E?

This is not including the Arthur where a large chunk at the back stand.

I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that.

Well explained. Also can I add that if there was an incident and someone was killed in an area where standing was ignored then I am fairly sure that corporate manslaughter charges would follow. The only defence would be it is controlled and monitored to reduce risk

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with the law until it changes and safe standing is permitted it remains the law.

I think you are over reacting there. How about any away ends anywhere in the country? Fully "accepted" that standing is the norm. Is the AW in danger of being shut because the away end is a full "standing" section? Now I can see that some people do not want or can not stand and as such it being inconsiderate to stand in front of them. Reason enough to bring in safe standing I would say but still a lot of people oppose that. Puzzling if you ask me.

I’m sure it’s illegal to smoke inside a football stadium, but police and stewards mingle with hundreds of fans smoking on the grass and steps In the Holmesdale, every home game. Some things just cannot be policed, I believe standing at football is one of them.

There is a difference between illegal (The Law of the country) and against Ground Regulations (The Rules a Football Club has made following FA/Premier League Guidance)
It is not illegal to stand, use mobile phones to record images and post on social media, smoke and swear. But it is against Ground Regulations to do all these things. Most of which are turned a blind eye to by stewards because mostly these are not unsafe. If something is deemed unsafe by the police/local authority, it is then when sections can be shut down.

Yes, standing in the away section is mentioned in the application too, and the same conditions - that it is one area that can be controlled and monitored - is also mentioned for that.

It was just that this is a discussion about the Holmesdale stand.

All of D stands. I'd guess about 6-8 rows at the front of block E stand, I'm not sure if this is due to the goal and keeper being in the way or just wishing to stand. The rest of the blocks stand for corners.

I don’t understand how the first 6-8 rows stand but the rest of the block and stand to the tunnel don’t but still see. They must be swaying about trying to look between people in rows 9 and 10.

Max Meyer signs.....fantastic coup for the club! One of the first things he says is that he can’t wait to experience the “perfect atmosphere” at Selhurst Park..........I assume that no one told him about the end of the HF. Whatever anyone says, it will not be the same, at least for some time. Emphasises what a huge loss this is to the club.....it is possible that the great atmosphere was a significant reason why he chose to come to Palace. I say again, really sad.
