My doctor friend gave me an article from the BMJ. The manufacturers have known about dangers of sugar since the 1950s and like "Big Tobacco" have hidden it. I don't understand why people go against Jamie. We have a massive health crisis in this country and he is trying to do something about it.

Pre war there was no obesity and yes whilst some people did not get enough food the main reason was that people cooked from raw ingredients. During the fifties TV dinners arrived with their pre loaded salt and sugar and guess what that's when our problems started.

Whilst I agree that's part of the reason, there were other just as valid contributory factors such as people walking, cycling everywhere as very few could afford cars. Also manufacturing without the use of robots was far more prevalent

Some of the comments on the bottom of the original article are hilarious....

"Everything in Jamaica is culturally appropriated - clothes, food, technology, music (Bob Marley's dad was white)."

This "cultural appropriation" nonsense is just the latest toxicity that has spread to the UK from the States.

And MP Dawn Butler has never been the sharpest tool in the box.

Dawn Butler sounds like it should be one of the Queen’s employees.

His restaurants dont just serve "healthy" food. So Pizzas are bad for you? What does he serve in Jaime Italian? Can't stand the bloke and am still waiting for him to carry out his threat/promise of leaving the UK if we voted for Brexit.
Having said that the MP is jumping on a bandwagon and should have more pressing issues to worry about

Real pizzas can be healthier than Dominos and Pizza Hut etc.

Yes, apart from the usual dodgy MP expenses claims, she has previous...

'A transgender former L’Oreal Paris model who was sacked by the cosmetics giant for saying “all white people” are racist has been appointed by Labour frontbencher Dawn Butler to an advisory panel.' [Link]

'Ms Butler took a swipe Kwasi Kwarteng, the Conservative MP for Spelthorne, of preferring "the company of white people" and said he "really doesn’t like talking to black people in case somebody realises he is black".' [Link]

I agree wholeheartedly with the MP. Stealing off Jamaican culture is just plain wrong.

What next? White, priviliged boys stabbing each other?

All too easy to play the race card so as to gain headlines - sometimes it is justified but there are other occasions when it feels that they try to look for opportunities. Just ask Dianne Abbott.

As someone commented, does 'cultural appropriation' mean that only Greeks can run in marathons? Does 'cultural appropriation' mean black girls shouldn't use hair straighteners?

Essentially the moment you hear the appropriation argument you know you're dealing with a lefty fruitcake selling cultural Marxism.

That's why we find it on the BBC of course.
