I doubt there will anything that looks like clear bullying. This is all in the public domain now. Let's hope some of the national media take an interest and come along for the ride.

I hope you're right & I, too, would welcome the National Media covering this, as you say, it is all out in the open now, BUT, I still have that 'nagging doubt'.

Whilst FYP deserve huge congrats for their sterling work in doing this & I hope they get the outcome they deserve, my worry is there will be a backlash on Dec 4th when we meet again at the 'mansex'. I honestly can see a concerted effort by Sussex Police to 'implicate' Palace fans in whatever means possible.

Will they 'plant' items on unsuspecting fans as they arrive, will fans be 'coralled' as they arrive at stations? I fear it could kick off big time coz of the actions of the police.

I doubt the police will plant anything, they had their chance when asked to provide evidence of knives, I expected them to come out with something "found" in a bush close to the ground.

Totally agree that FYP deserve a lot of credit.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Dom Fifield’s Guardian article here:

The wider an audience this reaches, the harder it will be for Sussex plod to wriggle out of it.

Well done FYP and others for not letting this go. It shows the arrogance of the police they probably thought Palace fans are knuckle draggers who can't read. This could have been killed off with a simple apology. All the officer in charge had to do (the day after) was say I was misinformed and it would have died a death. The more the police drag this out the worse it gets. C'mon plod don't you know it's always the cover up that does for the criminal.

Agreed, kudos to FYP.
"based on information logged by our officers on the night and done so in good faith" is a key phrase me thinks.

Why don't FYP invite Dominic Hyfield and other media to go to the December match with them? If this were possible I would happily contribute to the cost of tickets. Alternatively, as away tickets are so much in demandand may be sold out , would a regular away traveller give up their ticket for the media to go?

Much more dangerous to not do anything and let Sussex Police think they can get away with doing what they want. This year it was an allegation, what if at the next match it's an officer deciding to use a baton or spray and then making up an excuse.

You have to challenge things like this so that the Police know they can't continue doing it.

Or maybe be they’ll go anyway, it just remains to be seen if the Sussex Plod have the foresight to invite them as guests or misfire on your useful suggestion MP.

I've barely followed this story since it broke, mainly, I suppose, because I assumed it would just fade away in the face of police lies and intransigence. What is it about police, football and corruption?

Anyway, reading about this new development has made my day, and I'd like to add my heartiest congratulations and thanks to all those responsible for reaching this point. Fantastic.

Fifield will almost certainly be covering the game anyway for the Guardian, but probably from the press box.

As out thoughts turn to our rivals I thought I would dig this thread up. Did we ever get a satisfactory conclusion or did the establishment close ranks?

What makes you think football is a requirement for police corruption?
