Cobblers.

Precisely. The ground would lose its sole if you tried to shoehorn something like this in.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

They're only held for the duration of the season though; at which point the club can do what they like them. Just because we've been allowed to renew them previously doesn't mean it will happen again...its entirely at the clubs discretion.

Let’s make the whole ground a compulsory singing section and those that don’t are lined up at halftime and Pete the eagle can throw wet sponges at them

I remember in the 60s the club gave out song sheets to everyone. One song was :-

Aye aye aye aye
Jackson is better than Yashin
Woodruff is better than Eusebio
and Millwall are In for a thrashing

The idea never took off !

To be fair, the area where the HF stood technically still is a singing area. Horses to water and all that.

I have noticed that most ideas to get an atmosphere going are a little...awkward. I suspect that's because, much like any form of collective singing, it's an unusual objective for humans to stand or sit among 25000 others screaming their heads off.

Maybe we should get that camp bloke off the telly in, the one who organises choirs, and make ourselves a TV show :-)

Isn't some of this just Fake Atmosphere?

Atmosphere evolves naturally at a game, created by exciting play, controversy on the pitch or anticipation of a game against local or relegation rivals as often happens in the early stages of games at Selhurst. Atmosphere can't be at fever pitch for every minute of every game. The fact atmosphere ebbs and flows is what makes it great when it happens

I fully appreciate some sections start singing to rally the team and trying to sit people together creates a wave of singing as it catches on. These tend to be in bursts and works well.

Trouble is that when events on the pitch are a little dull not all singing catches on and some does seem to drone on in the background and even adding flags and banners the total effort has little effect on the play

As for handing out flags and banners beforehand / collecting in after, that really is fake.

This wont be possible in the future, unless your in the "Singing section" you wont be aloud to sing. Otherwise what's the point of a singing section?

The suggestion of a singing section is laughable and opens the club up for ridicule.
