From Ed Malyon at the Independent:

Eventually, though, Palace will have to win at home. It may even coincide with the return of the Holmesdale Fanatics to Selhurst Park, with the supporters group and the club working hard to find an agreement that will bring the noise back to a stadium that had garnered a reputation as the Premier League’s loudest.

The Club in its statement said "Given that nearly 100% of Lower Holmesdale season ticket holders renew (and 92% for the stadium as a whole this year), the only practical location to move those supporters in Block E to facilitate such a move would have been either at the front of block B - in effect swapping seats with the Holmesdale Fanatics - or offering them seats that are considerably less desirable towards the back of the Arthur Wait stand." I fail to see how this can be moved forward unless the HF move back to block B at least in short term.
Then proper consultation can take place. However I see many problems moving them to the centre

1) the problem the club highlighted above has not gone away so where will existing people move to and what revenue will be lost?
2) Also unless the singing section either agree to be predominately seated (unlikely) they will cause site problems for people who remain seated
3)The other option to 2 is the singing section has enough support to take over all of that end of ground and I suspect this is unlikely.
4) What really worries me is if they are moved to centre the whole stand will effectively stand and I feel authorities will act. this could be a fine, closing the Holmesdale, refusal to allow a safe standing trial to take place or the loss of planning permission.

This is why I think club should consult widely and find out real demand before they decide on any action

Cant see what all the fuss is about concerning people being porecious iover their seats but to be fair i havent heard to many from E block complaining about moving. It typically seems like others taking on their rights.

Ive got a season ticket in arthur wait and Ive had to move to watch cup games as the stand was closed.

1/. Some people in E block may wish to stay and join in the sinsing /standing ?

2/. People who dont may go to other stands (not all other places are less desirable !). I would want to move to block E to be with the HF then someone could have my seat. There must be others.

Presumably the season tickets have been re-sold to other people as it seems plenty full, so how does this now ever get sorted without people having to move, which the club - rightly - were loathe to do in the first place?

I can only hope I'm missing some info about these seats otherwise it seems the HF have made a rod for their back that now cannot be unmade, and the whole club is suffering as a result.

That said, the lack of atmosphere is down to everyone that goes; nothing is stopping anyone making a din, but many people won't unless the noise is already loud.

I reckon a bunch of them renewed in the same area. they're just not wearing black or singing incessantly at the mo is my hunch. They just need a good excuse to come back I bet.

The Club said 35 have been resold as seasons rest on match by match. So it may be possible to move those 35

I have been in Row 34 E block for a few years but every time there was any goalmouth action I had to stand up and make sure my 8 year old son stood safely on his seat to be able to see the action. This comes about because almost everyone in rows 1-10 get such a shallow bad view that they stand the entire time to get a better vantage, having the knock-on effect on the whole stand when there is any excitement. Surely these people wouldn't mind swapping with the Fanatics?
I have moved to the upper Holmesdale my son and I can sit and enjoy the matches without the stand up sit down madness below!

Why doesn't the club shop cash in and start selling a Holmesdale Fanatics replica kit?

They'd be all in black. With a hoodie. and optional drum accessory.

I'm a big fan of the Holmesdale Fanatics as I've never known Palace fans go to the lengths they do to get organised and create an atmosphere.

Yes, I know I am talking from a position of ignorance, as I don't actually know any of them, but I admire these young turks from a distance.

Having said that, i'm sure they are big enough to take a bit of teasing.

What accessories would you have for the Holmesdale Fanatics replica kit?

er.... quick question. Are they quite hard, these HF? Are they likely to turn up unexpectedly at the Purley Arms and give me a spanking?

Good point but presumably weren't asked, which is why we are in this situation.
