In the real world, an employee unable to fulfil their role would be ‘out’ well before now. I’m not saying that’s ‘good’ or ‘fair’ or ‘just’ etc, just stating a fact that employers aren’t obliged to keep paying staff who are incapable of doing their jobs.

In the real world, this would be classed as an accident at work. The workplace (Liberty stadium)could have been closed down, Steve Parrish jailed for negligence and Conor taking us to court for millions. (Though not for his inability to have sex as a former colleague of mine did)

With all the time he's been out, his PlayStation scores must be immense.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I don't think people are hating on him... I just think it grips people's s*** when someone is being paid around 80k a week and isn't contributing anything in return.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

What you forget (or didn't know) is that each player is insured against injury.

So since that injury in Nov 16, his wages will have been covered by an insurance policy in place for just such circumstances. Clubs are not silly, lets say for arguments sake his wages are £80,000 pw, that will have been around £80k * 95 weeks so a total wage bill for conor alone of £7,600.000 (£7.6 million) since Nov 2016, no club would take that risk, thats why millions are spent on insurance policies that cover players.

Otherwise clubs would have clauses in contracts releasing players with long term injuries or reducing wages whilst injured, no Club (Business) can pay tens of millions out on an injured player, certainly long term injured player.

I should like to see proof of this

My understanding has always been that Palace self-insures on such issues, given the size of any potential premium.

Maybe I am wrong, but my understading was that clubs pay huge premiums to cover themselves on specialist insurance policies.

I cannot quite remember where I read/saw this, but I know it was mentioned a few years ago, so presumed this was still the norm.

I am more than prepared to be corrected.

Self-insurance wouldn't surprise me, as I would imagine the premiums would be immense, with footballers (basically) getting injured all the time. Also, I doubt that any insurance policy would pay out indefinitely.

No chance of a no claims bonus on Wickham's insurance.

Ask me about Ronald de Boer.

I just did a quick search and it looks as if insurance is taken out but only pays after a certain length of time and only a percentage of the wages.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
