Who cares?

Same thing happens if you live in rented accomodation even if you have lived there for years and its your home the landord can kick you out with notice.

No room for sentiment here! better things to be worrying about!

I have sympathy for the long standing seat holders.

They have essentially been told they are second class because of pressure from a particular set of fans.

Ridiculous comparison.

It’s almost as if you’re suggesting that there aren’t a great deal of people utterly opposed to insecure tenancies.

And as for your idea of no room for sentiment. I think when it comes to long serving fans of your football club, you know the people who, without, you wouldn’t have one? Sentiment is actually a very pertinent thing.

If it weren’t, Parish wouldn’t be seeking to accommodate a group of people based on how loud they sing over others. If the “no sentiment” argument held any weight, the HF would rightly be told to grow up and get over themselves.

What I don't get is why the older generation think they have more rights than anyone else. Nobody is ejecting you from selhurst, you're being asked to move seats.

People talk about the millennial generation but if brexit has taught us anything, it's that it's the young who are willing to move things forward. I can understand the frustration at the inconvenience but my god, it's a massive over reaction.

I’m 24. Please don’t talk on young people’s behalf when you have absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back up the claim that this is a generational divide.

The way the HF have acted is embarrassing. The way the club are pandering to them and advocating their superiority over other Palace fans is pathetic & spineless.

It’s not a case of being old or young whatsoever in arriving at this conclusion.

This debate has been done to death. And people seem very fixated on their particular side. I’m done trying to convince people who honestly find it acceptable to remove people from their seats on the basis of their singing volume.

But now for people to suggest Block E should have to just deal with whatever scrapings Parish can be arsed with, just to suit their own personal position is ridiculous.

I smell trouble on the way. A sufficient amount of people aren’t gonna stand for this to a point that will have the potential to cause a lot more problems than a group of people not turning up to sing.

The only difference is. Some of us will turn out to support the club regardless of how disillusioned we are with the way it operates - it’s called supporting.

A couple of interesting points in that article:-

Quote "Forget the HF not being there, there's a trepidation at Selhurst Park that worries me sometimes.

"Sometimes I think it is like the ring in the Lord of the Rings; it becomes this thing that starts to dominate you more than you are enjoying it.

The above is self explanatory but the next quote is interesting semantically:-

Quote would love the next time at Selhurst Park to really feel that sense of togetherness and not withstanding some guys are going to have to make a sacrifice for us

To be correct Mr P should have said that "not withstanding some guys are going to be sacrificed for us"

SP is in for a shock if people have bought their season tickets for an advance period then it is extremely difficult to move them as they have a contract. He can offer to buy out the contract but if contract holder refuses then he has to honour that contract.

"eaglesdare" unbeknowing makes a valid point even though he is legally incorrect

Same thing happens if you live in rented accomodation even if you have lived there for years and its your home the landord can kick you out with notice. Bit in bold is incorrect.

It depends on tenancy but most these days are short hold assured. This means contract (tenancy) is valid for a period and that contract can not be broken (other than if tenancy rules are broken and that needs a judge) Before the end of that period a landlord (and technically the tenant) has to give notice as defined by tenancy.

In a similar way the seat contract has a defined period. I am unaware of small print on the season ticket contract on renewal of same seat but Custom and practice is that people renew same seats for extended periods. This has been going on for so long (status quo) it may be argued that this is now implied and thus part of contract.

If people effected are unhappy with way club is dealing it may be advisable to get legal advice

I'm 26, totally disagree on the club doing this to anyone, regardless of their age or how long they have held the seat for. They have no plan of how to move people about and the fact they haven't even decided who is taking the seats (blatantly the scum HF) shows how bad this is going to go. What do the current block E residents do if they had been excitedly been waiting to be part of the singing section but they're going to be told to move anyway?

I can sense something big kicking off soon, whether it be in the stands or outside the ground....

This will be hugely unpopular for anyone seated at the back rows of lower holmesdale, I hope the club are giving big incentive to move, even then it will upset lots of people.

The article is dated today 11/10/18.

Love the quote from SP "and not withstanding some guys are going to have to make a sacrifice for us"

... does he not know that there's a good number of 'gals' in there too?

I think that's more to do with the creeping Americanisation of the English language rather than sexism.
