Maybe not, but it is a discussion board after all. Or should I leave you all to agree how great “(y)our perspectives” are.

It's a 'marketplace of ideas'....as long as you're alright with robust debate I actually want you to contribute.

No suppression of views here.

In a mad moment of clarity I think this is the kind of radical breath of fresh air, an existential leap that could make Brexit work -otherwise we are choosing the world of Trump and Putin over the world of Macron and Merkel. Or maybe tone down the monarchies like the Scandinavians and Dutch have done - it hasn't done them any harm, they are fare more advanced societies than ours. Just a thought.

Are we talking Coffee or Banana republic?

Even the Left love the monarchy, despite saying otherwise. The most-read story on the Guardian right now is Princess Eugenie's wedding.

The monarchy underpins the class system, a lot of the kudos of public schooling comes with the idea that such schooling makes you higher up the scale, closer to her maj, u and non u , a culture where the words educated and posh get confused, where a really good education has to be paid for, with notions of breeding, look at Cameron and Johnson, our unis are massively disproportionate with choosing from public schools, public schools play rughby state schiools play footy, that's why we're crap at both, it's not the monarch as a person I'm concerned with but the over emphasis on class in Britain, it holds us back, away with glass ceilings, aristocrats with power behind the scenes, if that's a banana republic then yes Ich bien ein Chimpanzee.

Have you seen the other 4 choices.

As a Lenin/Trotsky/Marxist Stalinist I really enjoy a royal bash, and she wore her posh frock.

Shame about the reference in the service to 'The Great Gatsby' rather befits their image of privilege and dubious sexual bits?

The BBC turned it down as it is clear subjugation of the masses.

I agree......the class system is rife....only the accent went away.

But how do we maintain standards, both from the institutions and those that attend them, and still provide access......I'm not sure we can square that circle.

But it's definitely an unfairness in life....that there are plenty of good families who never get to send their kids to the best out there.

But I suppose that a meritocracy....It can't be equally fair...and can never be so.

All you can do is seek to rise the tide on all boats.

You might like to believe that. More resembling a cartel just lately.

Robust debate? I don’t see much of that either.

But then again it is a football messageboard.
