Yup. I remember the RLC comments as well and it seems to be the same for Meyer. Regarding his physicality I don't see a problem, its an outdated view in my eyes as the PL is full of slight players who are able to use their ball control to get out of tight areas or draw a foul from it.

Almost every game Meyer has come on, he has given the opposition more to think about than just Wilf e.g Watford away, Arsenal or Wolves. I personally believe he'd flourish as the no.10 but if Roy used him in the same role he did on Sunday against weaker opposition with Wilf drifting out wide also, I can see this working as they seem to have a good connection for such little time together.

Cabaye came in as a creative player who could score goals, he did very little of either but he kept the ball and kept us ticking over and we are now really missing him. Not all players have to either score or create goals to be a real asset to the team.

The trend of smaller players playing in advanced positions in the premiership hasn’t gone unnoticed and it was talked over by Gullit and Danny Murphy on MOTD2 on Sunday. They were talking about Man City and Chelsea, but although it’s often the best teams that set the trend, you can see it elsewhere as well. Chris Hughton plays their Solly March and the talented South American who plays on the left and cuts in on his right foot.

Maybe Roy’s ways are becoming outdated before our eyes, and given the choice of players and selections, he won’t change. Remember he didn’t sign RLC and wouldn’t play him until he had to, same as Meyer. Roy actually only changes the team when he has to, yet last season we thought he wasn’t changing it because he couldn’t, but he probably wouldn’t have done anyway.

We need to change up and create chances. It’s as simple as that, and I hope Roy recognises this before we’re done and/or Roy is sacked. Our defence isn’t as good or disciplined as Pulis’s, which is surprising looking at the talent difference, but then we have AWB and PVA are very talented full backs. Start using them more as well. If we have 2 def mids in a 4-2-3-1 then you usually can.

However, I expect to see 4-4-2 from now on and hope we get the bounce of the ball or loose ball in the other box and score the first goal and at a good time in the match. The 89th-94th minute worked before, it’s sure to keep working.

I can understand people having a moan about Meyer, it’s the instant success syndrome which people want nowadays.
He has come from a league that plays at a different pace than the Premier, so it’s going to take time for him to adapt. There have been plenty of players, who have struggled in their first season and blossomed in the second season. He has undoubted ability it’s just going to take time until we see the best of him.

I think he's quality and needs to be given a chance!

It's funny how some people did the same and spent three years slagging of Cabaye and saying we were going to get relegated every season. It's like groundhog day on here sometimes.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye!

Absolutely. But if his rumoured salary is real and it's 9 million a year then he'll be judged according to that.

He was a great attacking player at age 20 in Germany. But then they changed him to central midfielder and he played there the entire 2017-18 season. Apparently the managers bought him (and gave him all that money, 35 million over 4 seasons) to play him in an attacking role again. But was it really worth it for a player who has gotten unaccustomed to that position? He has had no continuity in that role, he might remember how to sore and create again or he might not. The amount makes the gamble bad business though

Disagreed with him in the past but the OP is bang on here. In fact I'd go one further and give Max a run up top...next AJ in the making I reckon!

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong

This is our strongest starting 11 in my opinion. The midfield 3 need to play tight in the middle of the park and drop back where necessary to allow our full backs to overlap and support the top 3 who need to play with total freedom, so as to cause as much confusion for the defenders as possible.

In all probability we will end up confusing ourselves, however this team needs Meyer in it without a doubt.

Hennessey

AWB, Tomkins, Sakho, PVA

McArthur, Milivojevic, Kouyate

Townsend, Zaha, Meyer

If that was true - and I highly doubt that it is - then if I was Steve Parish I'd be asking some very serious questions of the manager as to why Meyer isn't starting every week

£9 Mill a year equates to a weekly salary of nigh on £175,000.
I'll let others consider if he is on these terms !

Wow that's getting into man c type territory. Roger Schmidt (SP) certainly has the measure of Parish if this is correct.

I like 4-3-3 as a formation....but sticking Meyer...possibly our most technical player with eye for a pass...out on the left wing...seems silly. For me:

Hennessy

AWB - TONK - SAKHO - PVA

LUKA

MCARTHUR-MEYER

PUNCHEON - SORLOTH - ZAHA

Sprites, if you read my post, we need to have fluidity in the front three. Just because I showed him on the left doesn't mean he plays left wing.

Im pretty sure the rumour of him earning that much was squashed when he signed. From the reports that circulated here and alot of press sites hes earning in the region of £85k p/w not £175k.
I think when he plays he makes us more dangerous, hes got good feet and is always looking to go forward.
When i think to our good spells v Chelsea, especially first half, it was all going through him.
We're never going to see his full potential if hes only starting 1 in 3 games, he needs to be given a run.
