Don't really understand why anyone is surprised the season is a typical Palace season. There has been nothing to suggest it would be any different from the previous 5.
We have been unlucky with potentially our 2 best strikers injured, but that happens to all teams.
Supporting Palace hasn't been any different for years now, just blaming a different person.

Personally I would start Sorloth up front and give him a run of games. He might not be the finished product but I believe he would provide a focal point and a a physical presence which we have been lacking.

The sad fact is that this is probably the only option that we have until Jan at the moment. The club have carried one striker through a very long period of injury, one is now injured and the other is a loan. Even if you say it is "hard" to get the quality in front of goal, for a club supposedly being in the top bracket of wage payers that is still poor. Has Tekkers totally sucked the striker budget dry ?

Of course it’s typical. Why would it not be.

Parish still in charge making the same old mistakes in managing the squad. Maybe Susannah Reid can have a word.

Ayew and Sorloth, add in benteke and wickham and that’s why we can’t score goals.

Lose Cabaye and RLC and that’s why the midfield is not working.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

people are being far too negative - we'll be fine, disappointing start, but the replacements for RLC and Cabaye can't be faulted unless you're another Professor Hindsight, other clubs appear to have superior 'models' but these set ups are usually temporary and come under pressure when the quality of recruitment dips, as it inevitably does, Watford and Bournemouth look very solid now, but so did Swansea, Stoke and West Brom not very long ago, and Southampton's selling status is finally catching up with them, Parrish got benteke and Wickham in not on a whim, but bcos of Pardew, and we were all delighted when he turned up and most were surprised he stooped to our level - Parrish has no doubt got up most of our managers' noses, he is not quite perfect, the new stand delay is frustrating, but I'd have him over Jordan or Noades any day, and we've had Bloye and Goldberg so careful casually knocking SP - we haven't got the money to do a Wolves, we're in a run against the top sides, we will rally and finish lower mid table again - we may be the new Coventry City - but some of us remember watching with Mullery and 4000 fans at home v Shrewsbury or Barnsley. Poor results lately, form picking up, January to come, England managers with Palace links all over the place, cheer up chaps.

You can't blame Roy for Sorloth being crap and lazy in the first place. We had striker problems all last season, and the remedy for that was to bring in Jordan Ayew on loan? Not good enough.

I can and do blame Roy for Sorloth. You can't judge a player who doesn't get to play. A sporadic 10 minutes when the game has already gone, is not going to do anything to help settle a player into a system.

Roy keeps saying he's good enough, then play the lad.

He's had one start and what happened... Oh, He scored.

We have had a problem scoring for a couple of seasons, your right there but could anyone say after Benteke scores 17 goals, that the next season he would only score 2 in an injury ravaged side? I think not.

Look at Everton, they signed Rooney and then he couldn't get in the team, a team that was struggling for goals. Then they got Tosun? Scored a couple, now can't get in the team. He slated us in the press, now there's rumours that Everton want rid and guess who to.

We are competing with at least 8 other Premiership sides for goal scorers. They all have the same money we do and the same problem, but the club are expected to easily identify one, spent a sh!t load of money and quality for Europe.

Our problem wasn't that we didn't sign a forward, it's that we let one go in Murray and Parish has stated that his biggest regret was being talked into letting him go but again, if you have two managers in a row that wouldn't play him, were we really going to offer him a new contract.

It's down to the manager to motivate and get the best out of the players and build a team. Our manager is Roy Hodgson.

Roy will do OK for us (Hopefully) but it's going to be ugly.

Telling me no one could foresee that we would miss RLC or Cabaye? That Roy stating 6 months earlier in jan that we were already 7 players light on what he felt was a reasonable squad?? so to lose those lads, we are now 9 players short. Plus to lose and replace squad players.. we are weaker this season than last and last season we were screaming out for reinforcements.

A proven striker should have been the key target, not 'Oh CW is back soon, he'll be like a new signing' or 'It's ok we'll just stick a winger up front'

So you think a team who looked like getting relegated for a large part of the season and whose main striker scored three goals didn't need to buy a quality striker?
What we got was a failed Norweigan and a Jonah loan player. Not acceptable.
We also had a major injury to a centre back who's backup has so far guaranteed defeat whenever he plays. No signing of a suitable replacement.

We did signed two players who never made the first eleven. Not good enough

You don't need to spend in line with other clubs. You just need to buy what you need. Of course it is about bringing in new players.

Why do you think Allardyce and Pullis left?

Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (11 Nov 2018 4.42pm)

I didn't say we don't need a striker. We obviously need someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. I was saying that it's not sustainable to spend 30 million every transfer window.

You say, a failed Norwegian, I say how can we tell until he's played. Steve Mandanda, couldn't get in our side, now he has a world cup medal. There's a pattern here.

Your right about Ayew, swapping him for Riedewald was a stupid idea. So glad he had the nuts to say no. But there is another player not even given a decent chance. Shocking and down right embarrassing, poor lad. It's a joke that Kelly gets on the pitch before he does.

Bringing in Ayew was a mistake imho, That's down to our senior management, as is bringing in any player that turns out to be naff but that's football. Not getting the best out of a good team. We know who that's down to.

I don't want Roy to go by any stretch, he's OK for us now and we won't go down. I said the same last season despite our record losing streak. I just feel we can do much better on the pitch even though we are clearly competitive.

P.S. Pulis left because he didn't want to be here in the first place and thought he could stiff us for a couple of mill. Sam used us to revive his career after an embarrassing scandal virtually destroyed his reputation. We did him a huge favour and he did us one. Fair do's Sam and thanks. Pulis is just a t055er, imho, who did do a good job for us, much like Bruce and Dowie.

Same old story every season with a patchwork squad which some how we manage to escape the trapdoor with. Along with American billionaire owners, you would have thought we would have pressed on by now.

Why did they take Palace on if they’re not fully committed, what is their reason, can someone explain...
