It seems to me that, for once, all sides of the spectrum seem to concur that both Boris and Khan have been useless, yet you bring Khans religion into it in an attempt to imply that is the only reason people may be unimpressed with his performance as mayor are motivated by prejudice.

He really is an egregious individual.

I have observed a theme on this site - and within certain elements of the Press - to give the benefit of doubt to some but not others. I could be wrong. Apparently I am egregious. I have been called worse, but only on the HOL.

I note that nobody has responded to the actual point made, which is that the attack on Khan is unwarranted on this occasion.

In another post recently, you criticised the intellect of the HOL users and now this.

Do you think you are intellectually and morally superior to the rest of us?

Imagine if this had been agreed by a Tory Mayor...

A spokesman for Mr Khan said 'this is beyond parody from the Tories who are criticising a pay deal agreed under a Tory mayor which covered a four year period from April 2015 to March 2019.''

But please, don't allow my interjection of facts to get in the way of your flow of vitriol and bile against a Mayor who also just happens to be a Muslim.

Assuming you are correct then I am happy to admit that. Maybe it will set a trend on this site.

However in my defence I did say that LBC reported it and they did not point out it was the tail-end of a pay deal previously negotiated. But Khan would have known this when he took the job so I can only assume that he has factored this into his committent to freeze fares. So hopefully he will not complain about a funding shortfall in which case I will be wrong again..

Cool

Indeed you did only report it. I do find it frustrating that the media is often one-sided and seems to set out to give a false impression.

That is why I just can't tell how good or bad Khan is. Who knows what is legacy, who knows what mistakes he has made.

I still feel sorry for the social services who got vilified for putting up a total sociopath in a tent. Hung out to dry without anyone trying to understand the context and history.

I criticised the intellect of HOL users? Really? Perhaps you fail to understand humour. I certainly am not aware of ever criticising the intellect of any HOL user or users and I would not do so.

I make every effort not to make ad hominem attacks.

Oddly, the reason I have been keeping half an eye on this thread (living well outside London now, with no say on London mayor) was the pleasant nature of the initial conversation, with both left and right posters seemingly in agreement that "your mayor is/was crap but so is/was ours". To be honest, I do not really see a clear point in your post (I may be being thick)

How refreshing it would be if, just once, we had a thread that said 'your Mayor did some stuff that was pretty good and so did ours'.

This is really coming together, I asked my wife if I should run for Mayor. It's good to see her laughing, as she's been a bit unwell.

In regards to the comment highlighted, I had that in mind when I posted. I'm glad you picked up on that. I didn't want it to decend into a left right, immigration thing, as there are plenty of other posts like that on here.

What has he done? Is he crap?

I conclude, that no one on here thinks he is good or has done anything worthwhile and for once I respectfully agree with just about all of you.

Vitriol and bile? Calling someone a clown is vitriol and bile in your head? Ok, but it isn't in mine. Tell me Maple, am I allowed to criticise Khan? Most of those not on the left notice this type of criticism from the left....it has fed into the 'fear' culture within institutions past and present.

There are lots of criticisms I've made of Khan, some of it relate to his past relationships and comments within the Islamic community.....But Khan is primarily a secular Muslim and while I oppose many of his views few of them are related to his religion.

What you did here has parallels to you being accused of being anti semitic if you make any criticism of Israel.
This type of thing needs to focus upon the points not the stereotypes you have running in your head.

I've always been honest about my views on here, if I wanted to criticise Khan over Islam I can assure you I would. This has nothing to do with his religion but the economic ideas of Labour.
