Miguel Almiron does not cost half of 12 million. They rejected a 19 million offer for him and they'd probably want close to 30 million.

Meanwhile, Kagawa is an already proven player in the top leagues in the world and at international level.

Atlanta United don't own him the MLS do & they are notorious for selling at knock down prices.

I always thought he was underrated when at Utd.

Is he too much like Meyer though, and could you play them both in the same team ?

Of course. Kagawa is more no. 10 and that's pretty much the only position where he can play, but he can do it both in a 4-3-3 and in a 4-2-3-1, while Meyer is more a left winger who used to cut inside on his right foot before being converted to central midfield (where it hasn't really worked out in my opinion).

Imagine a team with these players from the midfield up after January:

....Milivojevic Macca....
........Kouyate .......
..................................
Zaha Kagawa El Shaarawy
Townsend Alan Meyer

..........Emiliano Sala.......
..........Alberth Elis........

That's replacing 5 players in the attacking zones who have scored 0 goals this season (Ben, Sorloth, Jordan, Schlupp+Macca who has been used on the wing) with 5 players who have scored between them 35 goals since September (Sala, Elis, Alan, El Shaarawy, Kagawa). And they scored and created dozens last year too.

With a cost of 28 million at most for transfer fees (El Shaarawy 12, Kagawa 12, Sala 4, Alan free, Elis free) and 0 increase in salaries.

Miguel Almirón would cost half as much & is 4 or 5 years younger. Great at set pieces as well. Something we are lacking at the moment.

I did see that free kick goal against New York this week. I'd like him, but your price is unrealistic. There are reports that West Ham will pay 28 million for him, I'm sure it will be at least 25.
Kagawa is also a good set piece taker.

The biggest problem will be offloading the players we have here, and recouping the money.

A 20-30 million investment in a transfer period is not that big an investment for a Premier League team, even if you don't sell players of that value (though I can see Benteke and Sorloth bringing in at least 12-13 million).

And it's an especially necessary investment when you need it to escape relegation cause you don't have players who score.

Is he genuinely likely to work out in England? He really didn't look great when he was here. I think a tried and tested Championship striker would be better and around the same price.

There are no tried and tested Championship strikers at the same price except for Maupay, who is short and more of a second striker.

Kagawa is a midfielder though, not a striker, he could be a mf in a 4-3-3 system too. I remember him being pretty impressive at Man Utd too, but having little gametime.

So where does he fit into Roy's 442. Because that's the only system he plays....

It's an immense investment if you haven't got that kind of money. Also, it's not just about cost but wages etc & we have proven we're not up for breaching FFP.

As good as some of these suggestions are I just cannot see us spending anything like figures quoted here. January will inevitably leave us with the old familiar feeling of disappointment.
