The sensible thing would have been Boris and May having a sensible discussion about it before writing the cheque. But that would be too easy, wouldn't it.

Ooh, power struggles within the Conservative Party. That's a new one.

And before you start, same thing inside the Labour Party.

The damaging effects of politics on the real needs of people. Someone give me the correct answer, I am blowed if I know. Maybe go back to stronger morals, perhaps a return to religious fundamentalism...

I have an answer although it may not be the answer.

The solution lies with the public we keep voting for drones. I recently met a lady who sits on her local parish council as an independent. Everyone on her council is also independent so they answer to the local people and not to party HQ.

Nothing will happen until we kick the major parties in the backside, easier said then done of course.

For starters, people need to be better informed because the media is not doing its job properly. The media focuses too much on the personalities and not policies. It's a bug-bear of mine as you know.

If we are all better informed, then people need to get off their arses, campaign and vote out the arseholes. People having a better understanding of Judeo-Christian values would also help!

It's the same as when we had the bendy bus, Ken got rid of all the route masters, then Boris came along and brought back new New route masters. How much did all that cost in the end? Rather than Have a coherant long term plan it becomes a willy waving political points scoring contest

With respect, the notion that a Parish Council is influenced by HQ is not the reality.A PC answers to it's local 'Parishioners' and they are far removed from the party HQ.

Well the report of the suspect being a black man is true.
These are all allegations until proven guilty but with a retort like that hes obviously on legal aid as this will now need to go to the old bailey.

I met up with my friend this weekend and found out a bit more about her work. Its actually a town of about 37000 people in the west country. The ruling party were simply not listening to the people so someone organised a peaceful revolution. At the next election the "party" was swept away and replaced by independent candidates.

At the next council elections many of them are standing down as they pledged to only serve 2 terms and they are keeping their word. My friend has 1 my term to serve. She is now helping to find replacement candidates mentioned a young man who works in the local supermarket and is known by lots of people. Her role will be to mentor him if he wins.

She is a lovely lady and from what she has told me it has been a great success reconnecting the voters and their politicians. The challenge now is to replace candidates as their terms expire they don't want to serve more than 2 terms as this was the problem with the ruling party who entrenched themselves and thought they were untouchable.

I have deliberately not mentioned the town or the ruling party as I don't want to side track this into party politics.

Anyway best of luck to them and I hope that more communities take note and kick out the "drones".

Topic LBC are reporting that TFL has agreed a 4% pay rise for their Underground staff.

TFL already has a black hole in its finances and Mayor Cannot was elected on a pledge not to raise fares.

So when the Mayor complains about lack of funds due to austerity, blame the Tories etc. remember this above inflation pay rise. Underground workers are well paid and in principal I have no problem with that but when you are facing a budget crisis well if you were a private company you would not be so generous. During his election lots of independent experts told Khan not to pledge to freeze fares as this was not sustainable.

So expect in the next year plenty of whinging from Khan about the budget and what he gets from the government.
-----
I have only read to page six so apologies if I have missed something. The lack of clear thinking and following things through can be shown by the fares freeze (not for daily and weekly caps and going cashless. Some of you will recall the bribe of bus cash fares being £2.00 and cashless fares being £1.50. Now that change is not needed, it will be possible to ignore the standard 10p increase basis (£1.50 to £1.60 is 3.6% - above the rail outcry level of 3.1%) and increase bus fares from £1.50 to £1.53, just two percent against the background of all of us knowing that costs of living do increase.

My brother in law works for TFL and he says Sadiq's fares freeze has had a catastrophic effect on their finances. If he does it again, then it will almost bankrupt them. What is it about Labour and wracking up debt?

There's only one circumstance where I'll welcome seeing Sadiq Khan as a thread title.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
