Sakho is a great player, and probably the highest calibre of centre back we could attract in our current position as a club.

However, can't help but feel the wages and transfer fee we get for him could be spent more wisely elsewhere.

Tomkins is close to being Sakho's equal, for a much lower fee and much lower wages.

I think Tomkins is the better player and would be far more upset if we lost him. We could try Riedewald or pray Dann gets fit, if not have to spend wisely but cant see anyone paying what we paid for him, although playing for France this week helps

Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.

If Mama is injured and cant play, couldnt Scott Dann step in? By all accounts hes fit as hes been playing U23 football.
We definitely miss Scott Dann's goal contribution from set pieces.
I like Kelly, but i always feel like we are vulnerable from high balls into the box when he plays, and Jairo is relatively untested at centre half for us (*cringes while remembering Huddersfield at home last season*).
We also have Kouyate who by all accounts can do a job back there and has proven to be a beast in the air in recent weeks.

It's listed as Slight Doubts Sakho, Tomkins, Wan-Bissaka and Zaha, as well as Dann. It doesn't say Ward is injured. If we're missing that lot though it looks a bit like this.

Hennessey
Kelly Ward Riedewald or Kouyate van Aanholt
Milivojevic Meyer McArthur
Townsend Sørloth Ayew

That's quite pants.

.....and we'll win 3-0 (in a parallel universe).

It's all very well saying he's not irreplaceable. If you're as s*** at transfers as we are then he is.

Wasn't saying that, he's clearly as good as we can get at the moment. My point was meant to be that I'm not convinced Champions League clubs will want to pay around a £25m+ transfer fee plus £100k a week for him when he tends to have a big error in him every match and has a chequered history of injuries.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Of course he might make fewer mistakes if he didn'tcspend 90% of every match having to fight like a dervush due to having f*** all strikers!

He went down with a similar thing v West Ham. He played on then. Hope it’s not another ligament issue.

Roy said he's been injured since West Ham. It's hard to believe it will have been a multi-month injury sustained at Leicester. Surely they would have been aware of the risks and not played him if a long layoff was likely?

Still, I think Dann will do well.
