I'm surprised that the thread about us being crap is so busy while this is so quiet.

I'm afraid that the standard of refereeing in the Premier League has been so appallingly bad for so long that everyone just accepts it now.

Sometime last season I posted some stats that showed that on a typical matchday something like 25% of matches were decided by referee mistakes. And that was based on PGMOL's own boast that referees "get 98% of decisions right". What I found was that the remaining 2% - if you accept it is 2% - were still highly significant.

Friend tonight was abysmal even by those depressing standards. The match was not decided by his mistakes, but it was decided by one of his mistakes followed by our inability to accept that s*** happens and carry on playing.

Because refs have shockers on a regular basis, and there is nothing we can do about it.

I would rather debate what crystal palace can control, like the players, manager and tactics.

If AWB actually heads the ball away from danger instead of registering an assist for the pen, then it’s not a pen anyway.

If we could clear our lines better it wouldn’t matter if he awarded a dodgy corner.

And the ref cannot make Tomkins run faster and make a better challenge instead of getting another assist for their third.

The ref was bad but we were absolutely p*ss poor and we got exactly what we deserved.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

We were simply not up for it! 2 Brighton corners within 3 minutes, defenders jumping into each other, passing astray. Absolute nothing and Roy H. seemed paralyzed - maybe he knew it was just one of those days?

How can we go from a dominant, assured performance to one of missing passes, poor touches, looking disjointed and out of ideas in just 3 days? From the first 15 seconds when Sakho needlessly gave away a corner, our back 4 who have held us together all season, looked nervous and vulnerable.

The game was played at the start of my working day and I'm still sitting here shaking my head 6 hours later.

Worst performance all season. Really didn't think we'd get beaten tonight, very disappointing.

I have been supporting Palace a similar length of time.
I think the Sunderland game when we went four down at home was a lower point and worse performance

No side can play well week on week but you do expect the side to roll their sleeves up and fight for the cause even when things are against you. But my days that was shocking tonight from all concerned.
Tactically clueless and a total lack of fight or passion.

Zaha, Meyer and Townshend all need space once Duffy was sent off and they scored the second Brighton could sit back and crowd us out. The extra man never became an issue because they were happy to leave more men in the vital areas then we would /could commit. In the five minutes leading up to the Andone goal they had smashed the ball out three or four times without anyone upfront to even make a token effort at retaining the ball. Had a discussion with someone about could we have taken Tomkins off and gone 3-4-3 but as we were playing with AWB and PVA as additional wingers we were close to 2-5-3 anyway.
If Beneteke was there at least we would have forced them to come out more as they would had to have stopped the crosses coming in which might have given more space to get behind them, the only times we did turn them Luka really should have scored in the first half and we got the penalty. Struggling to see the point of Sorloth.
Not sure if our passing was bad they were sharper or it was so congested we were simply playing in front of them and making it easy for them, probably a bit of all three.
Not had a good night's sleep

More the pity it was a great back then but yes I do need to grow up and apologise to all the shunters who may have taken offence and all the others who were offended on their behalf .

And we still need a striker

Much as it pains me to say it Brighton are a well run club with a proper scouting system and a manager who I wouldn’t mind at Palace.
He knows how to get the best out of his resources and how to defend a lead.
They went down to 10 men, lost two of their key players ( Duffy and Murray) but still never looked under threat.
They pick up unknown players for reasonable fees who slot in to the team seamlessly.
Look at the guy who came on for Murray.
Scored the winner on Saturday and tonight run Sakho and Tomkins ragged and scored again.
Compare that to Sorloth and Ayew.
Our scouting system is bad but we do have decent players and I’m fed up of Hodgson saying he has no other options.
He doesn’t try to play other systems or try other players.
After all the way he is playing has led to only one win in ten games.

Giving the corner which led to their second goal was a worse decision than the penalty one - and that wasn't good.We saw it on the live feed from the Ref's position and he couldn't give it either way and therefore he should leave well alone!
Complete buffoon!

Trouble is, if we can't scout players, how on earth are we going to find a manager.

I bet Dougie takes over as 'intrim'. At least he will have red and blue in his blood if he did...

I agree with you on most of this statement. Our scouting and and buying of players is beyond a joke but this blame doesn't lie with Roy. In my opinion the 11 players that he insists on playing week in week out are the only option we have at the minute. Schlupp, Sorloth, Ayew, Riedewald are all sub standard football players and hopefully they are all gone at the end of this season. As soon as Benteke and Wickham return then Sorloth will never even grace the bench again.

As Chris Sutton said via Radio analysis very recently , 'Palace is playing like a bang average club'.

Last night's result and Brighton's position in the Premiership doesn't lie that they are now a better club than Palace.

I can't see Palace beating in-form Wet Spam either on Saturday.

Transfer window cannot come quick enough.
